House majority whip Steve Scalise and possibly four others shot. Shooter was shot and captured.

It's a sick world we are living in. You can't even go to a ball field without fear of being shot at. Many prayers for those who were shot today.
I was getting off the train at Penn Station this morning , before I even heard about this, and started getting a mild panic attack as I navigated the crowd on the tracks to get upstairs. Not sure why I just started thinking bad thoughts.
You really don't feel safe anywhere, especially in a place like Penn Station and in crowds. I just wanted to get upstairs into an open space.
I hate this world we live in.

so terrible. It's a miracle there weren't fatalities (except the gunman right?).
I wonder if this will change any of their views on gun control. I'm not all for taking guns away, but I definitely think there needs to be stricter background checks and mental illness screenings.

Totally agree. Better background checks and mental illness screening is so absolutely important! Also, renewing these licenses. Someone who was sane 5 years ago can go completely nuts today.

3 more people lost their lives at a UPS facility to a lunatic with a gun. It's getting barely any coverage but I saw a statistic tonight that in the last 165 days there has been 155 mass shootings in America. And I hate to be this person but let's say it like it is Republicans will bury their heads in the sand and say "nope it's not guns", "no we don't need more gun laws". They tow this ridiculous 2nd amendment right ********! Our police and military NEED guns not the everyday Joe and if you WANT a gun so damn badly you should have to pass a mental health screening and you should do it gladly to show you are responsible enough to have a gun!

The statistics are frightening if you have the heart to actually look at them. When is America going to finally admit it really does have a gotdamn gun problem? Other developed nations don't have nearly the amount of gun fatalities and mass shootings that we do. When will people finally admit, "yeah, maybe this is a problem"? When they're the ones sitting in a restaurant or a movie theater and a wack job opens fire? When it's their kid's school that's next on the list? When it happens in their own community? They'll probably still deny it. Guns don't kill people, bullets do.
It's sad these people were targeted, but you know what? Shootings are going to happen anyway. They've become part of our culture so much so that we can't even keep track of them anymore and one mass shooting is getting little coverage because it's being overshadowed by another mass shooting at this point. So, if it's going to happen anyway, better these congress people than some innocent people sitting in a mall food court or babies in a daycare. Better the people who actually have the ability to make a change but refuse to than the poor innocent people who have no say. Better them than anyone else. Yes, I said it. When you have multiple mass shootings a day at this point on opposite coasts of the country, you need to admit this isn't normal and America should be ashamed at this point.
Sorry. Just can't stand this anymore. Different day same fuking story at this point. Why do they even bother covering it at all anymore? When does it end???
