GREAT place for a summer vacation with a 3 year old?
We haven't taken any trips since Spain in Sept - Oct. because DD was basically a nightmare when it came to bedtime.
But, now I'd like to book something for a week this summer. Thinking of a Rocking Horse Ranch type of place....but not so big or commercial. We spent a week in Vermont last summer and it was so relaxing.....
Any suggestions??

We went to Lake George last year and it was so much fun. GREAT for families! This year, we are planning to go back, but thinking we'll stay on the other side of the lake--Bolton's Landing.

We did a week in the Lake Winnepesaukee region of NH when DS was 2 1/2, it was fabulous. There is lots to do right there, and the White Mtn region is about an hour or so away which has a lot to do also.
We've also done the Penn Dutch country and Mystic CT, but those are really more weekend trips.

We did a week in Montauk last summer and it was so nice and relaxing. This year, we are going to Cape Hatteras for a week and I'm looking very forward to that. We also might be heading to Atlantis in the Bahamas too but that may not be what you are looking for.

What about going to Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard and renting a condo or house for a week. There are lot of family things to do that either place would be fun and relaxing for a family.

I was thinking about Lake George!! Hoping to find a place that isn't too crowded, not sure if that's possible.
Cape Cod/Matha's Vineyard/Mtk -- done those in the past, we'd like to try something new, but thank you for the suggestions! And I was looking into OBX last year -- just seemed like such a long drive.

Friends of mine always go to Lake George and they LOVE it.
She *thinks* the name of the place they stay in is the Lake George Hotel...but they stay in the surrounding cabins (which are cheaper)...not the main hotel.

LOVE Lake George. It is fabulous and a lot of fun.
Or you guys can do all of the Finger Lakes Parks too with your Empire Passport too
We used to go to Rocking Horse Ranch with my Girl Scout Troop (so 10 years ago! LMFAO!) but I was never that impressed with it then, and I think you wouldn't like it that much. Subpar food, rooms are anh, you know?

I also think Colorado is fun in the summer - maybe somewhere in Breckenridge?

Christine -- my parents had their honeymoon - well part of it - at Mohonk!! Yes about ohhhh....59 years ago this June!

I agree Mohonk is wonderful, but for the price for a week, you could probably do Hawaii
My cousins have done this all inclusive w/ their young kids near Lake George & raved about it, dude ranch/old school place. Looks nice.

it just looks like so much fun!
We are also considering just going to one of the Catskills resorts so we can relax, hang out, hike and even do a day trip to Howe Caverns!
