"Good Gas"

Anyone know what the better gas brands are? I'm not talking about octane, but the actual companies - you know, Mobil, Exxon, etc. I put Citgo in my car because it's the best price near me and I feel like I'm feeding my high-end car crapChat Icon

Anyone know? Or are they all the same?

TIA!

I heard Sunoco and Shell have the best gas, not sure how true that is though.

Costco has great gas for great prices. Chevron also is a preferred brand of gas.

Re: "Good Gas"

It depends...I used to date a guy who worked for two exxon stations. They received their gas from bulk carriers (mystic usually), which dropped gas at a "no-name" station prior to theirs. So basically its all the same.
You can still get bad gas, but I think it has more to do with the stations holding tanks.

THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!!!

I worked with a woman who used to own a gas station. the gas is all the same. You pay more for Exxon, Mobil, and all the other "branded" gasolines because the owners pay for the name. THey may have more additives in their gasoline, but you really dont need them.

Re: "Good Gas"

They are all alike...I used to work for a gas station and gas is delivered to all the different companies by one/two carriers.

The higher end gas stations such as Exxon, Mobil and Sunoco are paying for the rights to the franchise name.

Almost all gas on Long Island is purchased from Mystic.

DH says he gets more MPG when he uses Shell's v-tech premium (his car needs premium). that's the only gas he buys now.

its the same gasoline, but some of the premium gasses have more additives and cleaners - thats probably why he gets better mpg. my craptastic nissan gets the cheapest gas I can findChat Icon

Whenever I used to put Hess in my car when I had an 8 cylinder, it would stall Chat Icon

It happened to me more than once too, so I don't think this was a coincidence. The station I used is now an Exxon and I have used them with no problem.

I have heard that Hess only uses domestic oil - I don't know if it's true, but if it is that would be a good reason to go there.

Not totally true, but they don't deal with Middle Eastern countries:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/hess.asp
It is true that Hess has little or no dealings with Middle Eastern countries, as their exploration and production activities take place primarily in the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Algeria, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Brazil and Colombia.
