Full time nanny- how much would you pay for 2 kids?
I will need a nanny come September. I'll have a newborn and a 21 mo old. I don't know of anyOne looking for a job so I had to join care.com
Someone on there contacted me and said she wants $24 an hr. I think that's insane. Am I unrealistic for thinking I want tO pay $15 for 2 ? It's a full time job and I'd like the nanny to come to my home.

That is insane. I have a newborn and a DD turning 2 next week and we pay $15 an hour. And she is wonderful - she has been with us since DD1 was 3 months old. We found her on sittercity.

I am not a nanny but giving this as a reference. I watch triplet 2 yo's and a 9 yo. I also bring my DS. I am paid $20/ hour. So I think $15 is reasonable and $25 is outrageous.

Yeah $24 seems over the top. I would say $15 sounds reasonable.

I have a nanny and $15 per hour is fine! $24 an hour is outrageous!

In my area (downtown Brooklyn) nannies get paid anywhere from $16-20 for two children...and that's a lot!
$24 an hour is insane-o.

That is crazy!! I have a pediatric nurse that watches my kids here and there and she charges $15/hr.

That's ridiculous!! I'm going to be getting a nanny, and I am planning on no more than $15/hr for 2 kids, similar to your ages.
I guess they can ask for whatever they want, but that's someone I would immediately pass on and probably not even consider.

I would agree - that is a lot! I would confirm the amount of hours they want in a week at that rate, sometimes that's the difference. We guarantee our nanny between 50-55 hours/week at the $15 rate. Meaning, if I happen to come home early and let her leave, she is still being paid. Anything above that is overtime. She also has paid holidays, 2 weeks vacation and 5 sick days.
