formula suggestions

My older kids were fed Similac advanced ready to feed only and did okay on it. My second DD had some occasional constipation nothing horrible. She had bad reflux and would projectile vomit at night but we spaced her feedings to 4 hours.

Now onto this third baby I wanted to use organic powder formula with our new baby. At first she was also on Similac Advance ready to feed blue bottle. Her stools were very very loose and very frequent. I realized they changed from Early Shield (what my other kids were on) to optigrow. We tried organic powdered similac. Her stool at best became thick and at worst hard and whitish rock. We went back to Advance ready to feed and again she had crazy loose frequent stools. We are now trying the blue can of Similac Advance powder and while no "rocks" she hasn't even had 1 bowel movement today. We will use a ready to feed tomorrow as I don't want her too bound up. I expect she will poop around the clock tomorrow on that and may spit up a bit more.

I would really prefer an organic formula. Anyone have any suggestions as to which brand is a bit better at balancing their digestive tract?

formula suggestions

I don't have a formula suggestion but did her poop go back to normal color? Poop should not be white or clay colored. It can be a sign of liver problems. Not saying she does and Not to be an alarmist but my son has a liver disease called biliary atresia and had light clay colored stool which I attributed to formula changes. If they continue to be white I would at least give the doctor a call. Hope you figure out the right formula for her.

Re: formula suggestions

Similac is known to cause constipation. We switched to gerber good start gentle when dd was a few weeks old.

Re: formula suggestions

Her poop returned to normal when we stopped the powder and used the ready to feed.

I have heard of Baby's only. It's only at Whole Foods, right? How much is it?

Re: formula suggestions

The Web site for baby's only says it's a "toddler formula"? She is 2 months old... is this brand not an option for infants?

With the powder maybe you are using too much and not enough water. I add an extra ounce of water to my son's formula in the pitcher when I mix it up and he poops fine.

He is on similac sensitive.

Baby's Only is fine for infants. The company promotes breastfeeding. That is the only reason why they put "toddler formula" on the can. My pediatrician said it was fine and my daughter used from 7 months on with no issues.

I wanted an organic formula to but they were really rough on my DD's tummy. I reluctantly switched to Gerber soothe and it was the best thing for her. 99% of the reflux and gas issues resolved with 48 hours of the switch
