refusing formula: Please offer suggestions

My DD was EBF for the first 3 months. At 4 weeks I introduced the bottle and she has hated it since then. Some of you may have read prior posts when I was searching for the perfect nipple, bottle, etc.

Well, after many attempts she finally takes the New Gerber NUK bottles. She has also been getting supplements of formula since 3 months. She has remained fussy with the bottle and only takes at most 2oz of formula at a time.

So she is one week shy of 6months old. I return to work next week and my DD still refuses to take more than 2oz of formula at a time. So over an 8hr period she will drink at most 6oz. I nurse in the morning and at bedtime. At her last dr appt, he said she is not eating enough. So we started cereal because of that. But what can I do? She refuses to drink more than 2oz. Its the same with DH, MIL, etc.. Oh, and she absolutely will NOT drink breast milk from a bottle.

I bought a sippy cup and she seems to drink a little more from that but still puts up a fight.

Any suggestions? Is it possible that she doesnt like the formula..I use Good Start. Do you think I should switch? This is so frustrating. She pushes, whines, screams....she hates formula. I am noticing that she is getting gassy, could that be it.

Please help, I am getting hopeless Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon I am in a similar situation. MY DD will nurse but put up a fight with bottle. She is gassy too and spits up. I got her to drink 2-3 oz with the playtex drop ins and by switching her formula to Similac Sensitive.
Some babies prefer the breast and there is absolutely nothing we can do for some of them-my oldest DD stayed hungry when she was 3 weeks old and i had to stay overnight in the hospital-she refused to eat until DH bought her to the hospital where she nursed like mad. I like you are scared...I go to her Ped. tomorrow and I hope to get more answers.

Yeah, we have been through every bottle made on earth. So she only takes Gerber Nuk.

I dont think its acid reflux...wouldnt she be spitting up? She doesnt do that really. She just wont drink it.

I have no advice because, as you may remember, I have similar issues ... except DD won't take any bottle at all!! Chat Icon I am going to try dropper feeding soon, I think. Is that an option for you?
Sorry you are going through this, I know it STINKS!!! Chat Icon
