Flyer/solicitation came in child's name
I am not happy about this, wonder how a company got my child's name and mailed a coupon flyer (for Halloween items). I am trying to figure out which company shared my child's name, since i never ever enter her name online or when I do not need to. Any thoughts? Girl scouts is pretty much the only organization that mails something to my child but they said they don't share their info. Would it bother you if your child (under 10 if that matters) received junk mail? I am worried that her name may shared and she will start getting tons of junk, etc. Any thoughts?

Flyer/solicitation came in child's name
We recently got an advertisement from Pine Lawn cemetery addressed to my 4 year old, letting her know their are plots available for her. That made me sooooo made and kind of disturbed. I don't want to have to think about stuff like that. I have no idea how they got her name and address.

This is terrible. I would be so annoyed. To answer the original question I have no idea how they get their information. I keep getting junk mail addressed to my Dad. I have no idea how they linked up my dads name with my address. They are different last names

Flyer/solicitation came in child's name
Does she get any magazine subscriptions? They are usually the biggest culprit of selling info

Girl Scout magazine
And years ago, over 4 years ago, my mother got her a subscription to National Geographic kids. I called National Geographic back then because I was kind of upset at her receiving mail unbeknownst to me and they assured me kids names are not sold or rented....but she has not gotten anything in the mail for years since that subscription ended (other than Girl scouts) until now.
I am starting to wonder if places like Skyzone, etc, where they take all your child's info, sells them or rents them. I tried to put omit info for that reason but the last time we went for a party, they wanted all the info that I left off. And my child said her name so it had to match when I typed it in.

Sorry, if I am missing something, but why is this a problem? Yes, junk mail is annoying, but who cares??? Toss it in the garbage.

ITA. I understand seeing your kids name getting mail, but it's nothing personal. It's public record. It's not like they are personally writing out the names. I just throw it away.

I doubt it, since we go to Sky Zone, etc. all the time, and my kids only get mail from Lego (which I signed up for). I did receive that same coupon...but in my own name. Do you shop at Justice? I know that they ask for the kid's names at check out. I wonder if they sell that info?

*there.
This would really bother me and I don't have kids. It's kind of disturbing. I would think that if it were sent to anyone in my family, but for a four year old seems a bit too much.
As to the OP, whatever it's just junk mail. Throw it out.

I kind of agree too! I don't even pay attention to who the junk mail is addressed to, I just toss it without even looking.

Unfortunately it is never too early to think about these things. And often times overlooked at such a young age.
IMO it is junk mail. Toss it and be done. Your child's name is not a national secret.

Wait... what? It's never to early to think about burial plots? I don't know... I think 4 years old is a bit early. Please tell me this was sarcasm!!
I don't think I'd get too upset about random junk mail even though it's a little bizarre to see it coming in DC's name, but from a cemetery, that would bug me!

With the plot, someone probably has a similar or the same name and is older and they just pulled the wrong address.
As for the regular junk mail, just toss it

I've actually lost several family members prior to the age of 4, so no it is not too early. And honestly when you are burying a young child the last thing you want to do is think about where to buy a plot. Sorry, no sarcasm intended. Young people die too.

It bothers me because years ago I was a victim of identity theft. Getting things in the mail that you may not have signed up for are some of the signs of such. And sadly kids can become victims too and often don't find out until they are much older and their credit is ruined. So seeing my child's info used for solicitation definitely is odd to me when I an very cautious about sharing info.

Yes but I don't give her birth date or name for any stores. Unfortunately only Sky zone because she told them her name (I had abbreviated it on the form). And GS magazine and that kids Nat Geographic years and years ago. So it's weird to me.

If getting things in the mail I never signed up for is a sign of identity theft I am REALLY in trouble.
