Agreed.
I think people are stuck and focusing on "pre-covid" life and nothing else. We are living with COVID now. People have to start taking responsibility for themselves and their mental state and stop looking to blame everyone else.
Malls are stores and restaurants are open. What are people complaining about? Wear a mask and live your life.
Things people might be "complaining" about:
Having to postpone a wedding that you've been looking forward to your whole life and planned for a year plus.
Not being able to see your aging father in a nursing home for the past 7 months because of covid restrictions.
Not being able to celebrate important milestones in your or your children's lives with friends and families.
Not being able to have your children see their grandparents for months on end because you are afraid to put them at risk.
Watching your children suffer from anxiety that they never had before.
Seeing your special needs children fall behind in school/socially/physically because they could not get the services they so desperately need.
Not being able to take a vacation that you planned for years because travel is impossible now.
Seeing your child get into the college of his or her dreams only to be told that it would be full remote learning.
Having your spouse laid off or furloughed because business can no longer sustain so many employees due to covid.
Not being able to celebrate holidays/birthdays etc with elderly family members.
Those are just a few. That's not to say that there aren't still tons of things to be grateful for, but to tell people to stop complaining because malls and restaurants are open? I don't think anyone on this post mentioned being upset about malls or restaurants. And I am not sure where anyone "blamed" anyone. I just don't understand why some people can't show some empathy.

Unbelievable. Yeah well Congratulations to anyone who feels fine I guess. Listen I work a job that is mentally draining and if anyone thinks this is something to scoff at think twice. We are in a mental health crisis! Hospitals (psychiatric) are so inundated they can't provide quality care and people are being minimally stabilized at best and being released as soon as possible. Teenagers are suffering depression at an unprecedented rate. They barely look at the patients and I have first hand knowledge of this. Lets show each other a little empathy here for once
I work in a large hospital, and see people in psychiatry and in medicine for consults. Our acuity psychiatrically is so high I don’t know how we will handle it going forward. The suicide, the drug/alcohol use coming in and we never have an open psych bed anymore. It’s unbelievable. I was talking to our associate psych director on the social and psychiatric implications of the pandemic and it’s so many hospitals reporting the same, the acuity level of people coming in is alarming.

Feeling anxiety like never before
So with all this discussion about anxiety etc.....does anybody have the name of a good therapist of psychologist (feel free to DM me) -- I'm hoping to find one that takes my insurance .......but some names would be helpful. Thanks!
