There was no concrete evidence that showed COVID originated in a lab. If there was, the conversation would've been different from the get go. As there is more proof, regardless of what we're talking about, the conversation changes.
As far as this is all concerned, I can't see wasting energy on those things we have no control over. I have no doubt TBTB will get at the truth behind COVID but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. COVID is here, the damage was done and all I am concerned with now is moving forward.

The problem is that people, fueled by the media, downplayed the fact that China could be at fault for causing this worldwide pandemic because somehow that was xenophobic. The hypocrisy related to the way things are treated is really crazy. Trump could not call it the "China virus." That was TOTALLY RACIST. However, we can call these variants the "UK variant" or the "South African variant." We were xenophobic also when we closed our borders to people coming from China, but nobody says boo when close the borders to India or anyone else because of course now we know that given the situation closing the borders is not racist, it's a safety issue. We don't go back and say "hmmm, maybe Trump was on to something when he made that move to close the borders." I'm so over the double standard and the absolute hypocrisy and then people just make excuses for themselves and their idiocy.
But yes, let's not talk about this stuff! Let's talk about what snack food you absolutely can't resist!!!!

I remember bringing up how is that a conspiracy theory?
People are working in labs with dangerous pathogens and they are HUMAN and humans make mistakes so how is so hard to believe someone could have been careless and infected themselves and then spread it around the community ?

Wuhan has a lot of international travelers so it could have originated somewhere else and because of literally no healthcare it took off. China will never tell the truth so it is pointless even trying to figure it out.

What’s your point? Because conspiracy theories are usually correct? There wasn’t much evidence at the time to come out to support the lab theory. I believe now Biden has asked to take a closer look at it because there seems to be credible evidence. It’s been a year. That’s not that long relatively speaking. These things take time to gather up evidence to make a case and do it right.
And Trump didn’t have the best track record with regards to conspiracy theories (birth certificate anyone?) anyway. That didn’t really help.

This. It took a long time to find out where HIV came from, and I think they still don’t even know all the details.
I don’t think it’s pointless, though.
I also don’t think it was released maliciously. I see it as a possible accident with poor lab standards and a bad coverup.

Let’s be real, it took a long time to research AIDS because the government did not care to fund since the virus was killing mostly minority drug addicts and gay people.

I remember a post on LIF last year where anyone who said it might have come from the lab was a conspiracy theorist.
I remember bringing up how is that a conspiracy theory?
People are working in labs with dangerous pathogens and they are HUMAN and humans make mistakes so how is so hard to believe someone could have been careless and infected themselves and then spread it around the community ?

You don’t need to find it, I can confirm this is what happened. People were being mocked.
How many crimes go unsolved because of lack of evidence, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
For some reason people need to have a laundry list of links and quotes to post anything, like if we’re freaking PIs or presenting in front of a grand jury. .

The rumors in the beginning was either from a street market or from a lab both in China. Nothing was confirmed, nothing was fact checked and we really do not know where it came from. Wuhan has a lot of international travelers so it could have originated somewhere else and because of literally no healthcare it took off. I don’t think it’s pointless, though.
I also don’t think it was released maliciously. I see it as a possible accident with poor lab standards and a bad coverup.
Let’s be real, it took a long time to research AIDS because the government did not care to fund since the virus was killing mostly minority drug addicts and gay people.
And? I think it is like that with any virus or illness. They have been researching all types of coronaviruses for a long time. They still don’t have answers.
The evidence suggests that the virus in the lab was a SARS virus almost identical to the current coronavirus now from 2012. They were speeding it up, which I think is questionable.
That’s almost ten years. I don’t see any urgency.

And your point was to say it took years to research HIV which there is still no cure like if they were actively researching to find the point of origin or even what it was but they weren’t investing research into it for a long time because it was killing the black people. That is my point, The comparison to the research done on Covid vs AIDS is not the same. It was wiping out communities before the government even cared to research this virus or pay attention to it. So the longevity of research has nothing to do with the virus itself but when the government cared to pay attention to it.

OK.
I don’t think they would do that again after that happened with AIDS, so one cannot completely compare I guess.
I’m just making a general statement that research takes time to gather up evidence. It’s going back to an overall feel I get in this thread that things weren’t done sooner to investigate the lab.
