EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?

I left neg feedback for a seller that pretty much sold me some of her crap.
It was inaccurately described and the flaws could not be seen in the photos.
I purchased the items a few months ago and just left the feedback yesterday.
Today I get a nasty email from the seller saying I must be a sorry person to leave negative feedback 3 months later.....

What gives?

Honestly, if you were that unhappy with it, I would have contacted the seller right away and told them when I got the item. If it wasnt resolved, then you could have left negative feedback.
3 months is a little long to go without feedback

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?

Did you try to return the item first? Did you describe your concerns to the seller and give them a chance to rectify the situation before leaving negative feedback?

I generally see negative feedback as a last resort if the seller isn't willing to work something out with me... but if she misrepresented the item, she didn't deserve positive feedback. If I were a seller, though, I'd be surprised that you waited 3 mos. to leave feedback.

However, if was your feedback to leave!

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?

The only reason I didn't leave it sooner is that honestly I didn't have time.
I bought the items 3 weeks after my son was born and honestly forgot.

I didn't try to contact them, I figured it was too late. I don't even use the items either, they are awful!!

I agree. If I see any bad feedback, I move onto another seller.

I would have tried to resolve it first--the seller probably assumed you were satisfied since you took 3 months to leave feedback.

Yes, it can be that bad. Some people will pass over the seller now. And it looks weak to wait this long to leave FB without ever attempting to resolve the situation.

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?

honestly, it is very bad.

Negative feedback should be a last resort, after you have tried other options. To leave it after 3 months, without even letting the seller know that you were unhappy was wrong, IMO.

ITA. You should have contacted the seller and maybe worked out getting your money back or returning the items. To just wait 3 months and then leave back feedback was wrong. Sorry.

To be fair since you waited so long to leave feedback I would contact Ebay to- Mutually agree to remove the bad feedback.

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?

I am sorry that you are getting such negative responses to this.

If you felt that the item was poorly represented and the person purposefully "scammed" you on your item, that's what the negative feedback is for

If you feel badly about it, you can try to do a mutual agreement and eBay can pull it

Also, don't be surprised if she leaves you negative feedback Chat Icon

She already did, and that's fine with me.

In all honesty, I left the feedback on a bad day, and if she would have replied to me in a respectful manner, maybe I would have retracted it.

Her email to me was uncalled for, therefore now I'm NOT going to do anything about it.

I never realized that it would be so bad, but now....forget it.

i don't really think her email was uncalled for (unless she was calling you names or using profanity).

you were unhappy with the situation yet did nothing to recify it. you admit that you didn't have time, and she lost the opportunity to make things better because you failed to contact her. that's just not fair.

i understand you were busy with the birth of your son but you bought the items after he was born - you had time to shop on ebay after he was born but not to take the time to call her to try and fix this?

and you readily admit you left the negative feedback on a "bad day" - that is so entirely unfair and inappropriate, IMO.

ditto, I would have been very upset that the buyer didn't contact me first. Even ebay tells you when you are about to leave neg. feedback that basically its a last resort.

Think about it this way, if you purchased something in Macys and were unhappy you would have made the time to return it. Ebay is a store, and buying website, therefore it deserves the same respect a store would get.

I also don't think her email was uncalled for. After 3 months, I'd be so upset.

Getting back to the original issue though......

Why is it fair that she listed and sold me items that were not as described?
This is what annoyed me in the first place.....
As far as I'm concerned, do the right thing from the beginning and there won't be any negative repercussions.
There GENERALLY is only 1 chance to make a first impressin, so why now, should I have to be the one to rectify the situation?
When you go to a restaurant and the service sux or the food is bad, do you go back? Do you tell your friends not to go there?
To me this is the same situation.......
Sorry but I'm not gonna waste my time trying to tell someone what they did was wrong, they should know it from go.....and I'm gonna call you on it.....

ETA
And now I should be the one inconvenienced to call/contact her and pack up her crap and bring it to the post office and pay to send her junk back to her?
that's a little different than a few clicks of a mouse to purchase....

Ok, but if you bought a blender at Macys and relized it was broken you would have made the time to go to the store and return it, correct? Therefore why doesn't the same apply for ebay?

I think you're being a little irrational. You should always give somebody the benefit of the doubt to fix the mistake. Just like you said "you were having a bad day", well the seller maybe made errors in the add, but to wait 3 months and not say anything, not cool.

I personally hate it when somebody tells me as a seller "they don't have time to leave timely feedback". That's crap. Really, you're obviously online responding, it takes all of 3 secs to leave feedback. I think 3 months always probably shocked the buyer. I too would have assumed you were happy.

Didn't you get the ebay message before you left neg. feedback where even ebay recommends you contact your trading partner BEFORE you leave negative feedback?

imo, you should have dealt with it then or just let it go. 3 months later is too long to go back and complain.

What was not accurately described about the items? I see your point in a way. Why should you be inconvenienced if she truly misrepresented the item?

If Macy's described the item as broken, defective and unsightly, and that is what I got, why SHOULD I return it?
I got what was described........
If it was not what I wanted or expected because it was described incorrectly, why am I not entitled to b!tch about it?
Yes,I already said maybe I should have handled it differently, but for the seller to now take the extra step to be p!ssed at ME because she was called out, should be HER problem, not mine.

ANd YES, I should give the benefit of the doubt, you are absolutely right.....but I don't HAVE to.
That's the difference....

If she would have emailed me and said "I'm sorry you didn't like your items, what can I do torectify this?" I would have surely given it the time.
But now she burned the bridge even further, where's HER olive branch?

You should have contacted the seller as soon as you received the item and were not happy with it....that would have nipped this problem right away...now instead of a solution, there are 2 unhappy people and the seller now has a bad mark against them for something they might have been able to fix.....
