earring question

I am going to attempt to wear earrings after many years of not being able to. I seem to get reactions to metals and a lot of irritation from earrings. My piercings are still there and I can get earrings in. What should I use to keep the earrings and piercings clean? Where do I get the stuff? I grew up with the idea of using alcohol but I know that is old school thinking and could make it worse. I am going to take them out at night (I know people will say not to but I've tried everything).

earring question

What about instead of using the metal holder on the back part to hold the earings you get the plastic holder that way is less metal contact. Also try maybe using 18 k instead of 14

Re: earring question

I swear by Bactine spray for just about anything - cleaning cuts and scratches, bug bites.
It is anti-septic and does not burn like alchohol.

Re: earring question

Ok .. a few questions here.

1 - what's wrong with alcohol? I didn't realize it was old school and I still use it! Chat Icon

2- They say not to take out your earrings at night? Why? I thought it was the opposite!

I recently started wearing earrings again and was just complaining to my dh last night that the hole feels irritated!! Chat Icon Now I'm wondering if I could be doing something different.

very drying. Also it promotes the healing in such a way that the hole can close. Now I am reading that saline may be good.

I have to take mine out at night but if you have a new piercing or even an old one that you just started to wear earrings in, some people will say to leave them in. Some people say that takikng them in and out is irritating.

Re: earring question

Alcohol can burn the skin and cause an open wound to not heal properly.
Peroxide is better at cleaning.
I just happen to like Bactine - I've never had a reaction to it and I have sensitive skin.

earring question

I think it depends on the earrings. I cannot wear anything that isn't a hoop. Any earring with a post or french hook irritate my ears. For some reason, hoops are the only thing I can wear every single day, 24 hours a day without issue.
