Dog Park Saturday*****UPDATED*** IT WAS AMAZING!!!
We are going to attempt the dog park for the first time on Sat. We are going with a bunch of other friends who have dogs as well.
I hope this goes well! lol

I would strongly recommend for a first visit to go EARLY before it's too crowded or not on a weekend.
Maddie loves the dog park and is with other dogs twice a week at day camp and we still try to avoid the dog park on weekends because it can be insane.

We are going to do Blydenburg.. They have the off leash part and then we are going to do the trails with the dogs.. that you have to do with the leash.. I want to get the doggies nice and tired lol

I have been having this issue for 2 years.. Lola just doesnt like it.. I have taken her at least 20 times.. She stands by my side or if I am sitting she will not get off my lap.. now if the dogs had leashes on them its a whole different story.. she love's a dog walk or dog run.. I guess she feels more secure if the other dogs are restrained.. I have given the dog park so many trs and I do not think I could get her to change..

LOL I'am a very protective mommy lol.. one time a dog i thought was coming at us and i jumped in front of barkley lol.. My husband was like "are u insane"? lol.. I was like "i could have taken that dog" lol hehehehehehe
The park is in Smithtown. On 347.

The park we are doing has doggie trails and such and i think you need a leash for that.. You can take your doggie for that!

My Dad's Wheaton is a boy. He's about 4 or 5 years old. His name is Baxter and I swear he looks like a stuffed animal that came to life. So cute! I've got to find a picture of him.
Can't wait to hear how Barkley liked the dog park!

I totally agree. We went a few weeks ago and there were soooooooo many dogs there on a Saturday. Piper ended up getting bit. He looked fine but, when we got home he was limping. I love Dog Parks especially Blydenburgh but now we will only take him on the weekdays.

I've been to Blydenburgh a lot since Karacg and Gertyrae introduced us to it! It's really convenient for us, it's less than 10 minutes from home.
I've only gone to the fenced section once, and that was on a weekday, the last day of my vacation. It was great! However, I've seen what it's like on a Saturday and would rather not. We walk the trails instead, although we seem to be the only ones who stick to the leash rule.
I went to Gardiners Park in Bayshore this morning with a friend of mine who also has a chocolate Lab. It was great!! We walked down the trail to the beach and then headed away from that area a bit to be alone. They had a ball, I put a bunch of pics in a photo album. A whole lot of dogs there when we left too, I'm glad we went early.

Ladies!!! The Park was AMAZING!! We had the best time. Barkley LOVED it. No problems.. When it got a little crowded we headed down to the lake! He swam and just had the best time. He was so friendly to others and had NO problems. Sat (yesterday was his first time) and he had a BALL.. He did not want to leave... I was nervous but honestly it worked out great!! Then we had our friends over with there two dogs after the park and they played some more..
We will be at the park the entire summer! lol.. Weekdays and Weekends!!!
Ill post some pics later...

OH and we did not go early yesterday. We got there at 3pm and stayed till about almost 6pm lol.. The dogs did not want to leave!!! There were a lot of dogs but really there were no problems. You just have to watch your dog just like if you were watching a child... It was great...
