Nope!! I labored for 24 hours after induction..then...c-section. It is all about you and your body and what it wants to do. It could go faster..it could go slower!!! Chat Icon

I've heard generally longer...I delivered like 68 hours after starting the induction, and pushed for 6+ hours.

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

Not for me. I was induced with DD at 7 am Monday and didn't deliver her until 7:15 PM Tuesday.

They turned the Pitocin off after 12 hours, I rested overnight, they turned it on again and broke my water the next day.

DS was quicker-was induced at 8:30, DS was born at 10 PM.

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

I think 2nd labors are quicker, not necessarily induced ones.

I was induced with DS in the morning, delivered 11:44 at night.

Went in naturally with DD at 4 am, delivered at 9:41 am.

The nurse told me that 2nd deliveries are usually much quicker because your body knows what to do and everything has been stretched out already.

It wasn't too long for me...I started pitocin at 10am and the babies were born at 10:53 and 10:55pm. I pushed for 3 hours...

I delivered at Stony Brook, where they have residents, and I kept saying that I just couldn't do it any longer, and they had to do something! And this one jerk male resident told me I just needed to take a break for 1/2 hour and start pushing again, and I started SCREAMING at him to do something! They finally figured out that DS was stuck behind my pubic bone and needed to be vacuumed out. Chat Icon I joke that I'd still be pushing if I hadn't spoken up!

I've heard it generally goes slower...

Both of my kids were induced and both took ~12 hours.

I've heard it goes slower as well - it took me 13-14 hrs after being induced to have DS (which is nothing compared to some of the pps!)

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

From what I've heard, induced labors are longer, but you can't really compare one person to another.

I was never induced but I pushed DD for 3 hours. THREE LONG HOURS. Chat Icon

I pushed DS for 6 minutes and the doctor told me I could have done it in less.

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

Everyone's body/experience is different but my best friend was only like 2days past her dd and she just wanted to be done so they induced her. She was in labor and in a lot of pain for 24 hours until they had to do a c-section. Sometimes you cant mess with nature...JMO

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

I had my DD 25 hours after initial induction. Pretty quick being that I was 3 weeks early and had to be induced due to pre-e.

I pushed for 2 1/2 hours...KUDOS to the mommy that pushed for 6 hours...I would have DIED

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

I think if you have progress (like dilation and effaced) then it goes quicker.

My inductions from start to finish lasted about 6- 8 hours for each baby. My actual deliveries (transition to pushing) lasted only a few minutes.

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

I'm sure it depends if you're actually a good candidate for induction and moving along.

Both my labors were equal amt of time. I was induced for medical reasons with #2. Both were a bit over 4 hrs with a couple of pushes.

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

I think in most cases, it's not quicker, and often longer. If you are induced, it generally means your body hasn't gone into labor on its own for whatever reason. If you're body isn't ready to be in labor, it's going to be "fighting" it, so when you're induced, I think it often takes longer since it's not happening naturally.

Re: Does labor go quicker if you're induced?

I think it really depends on your body.

I was induced with DD. Pitocin was started around 8:20 am and DD was born at 1:52pm the same day. Less than 6 hours later and I pushed for only 40 minutes.

I also wanted to add that I was no where near ready either, I was not dilated or effaced at all. I went from 4 to 10 cms in less than 3 hours. At one point they had to stop the pitocin because I was going too fast.
