Does anyone else get horrible gas pains/bloating?
i live off of extra strength GAS-X. i get so bloated that i cannot even close my pants sometimes. i am watching what i am eating and i'm on weight watchers as well. what works for you when you have horrible gas pains?

For me, when I eat salad alot the same thing happens to me. I look 6 months preggo.I use phy-zyme (sp) b/c the gas ex wasn't cutting it. For me, I take 2 and I wake up 50% better, another two the next day and its gone. This is what my gastro told me to use and it works. I know how uncomfortable it can be. It sux.   You can find it in CVS or whatever right next to the Gas-Ex.. I had it yesterday and today actually and i was searching to see if anyone else did. At least today I could wear pants, yesterday, nope couldn't do it.

Could you have IBS? I suffer from IBS and get really bad gas pains too, so I think they could be related. Sometimes the pain is so bad that I could pass out. I used to eat Gas-X too and it's not working as well lately so I bought Zantac last week and that was pretty good. I think for me it could be reflux because certain foods seem to set it off. It might help if I went to a gastro, but for now I'll keep taking over-the-counter drugs

Could you be lactose intolerant? It can have an onset later in life.

I read about food combining, a while back. I'm not sure if this will help in your specific situation. But this can be helpful to some, in general.
The main principle I like from food combining is about fruit. They say fruit digests more quickly than any other food...and if you eat other things (especially proteins) before or with fruit, the fruit will ferment and produce gas.
Some people go really crazy with food combining principles food combining ideas ...I just do the fruit one (I eat fruit only in the morning). It really works!

i do stay away from milk since i get deathly ill from it. i was allergic to it when i was a baby. as far as having IBS, maybe that could be it also. i did buy phazyme though and gonna try it out. i might have to go to the doc i think
