Do you take your DC to NYC for the holidays?

Would a 9m old get anything out of it. I mean there are tons of lights. We were going to take him tomorrow to see it all, but my mom is telling me to leave him home, and that we should go on our own Chat Icon hmm...

Re: Do you take your DC to NYC for the holidays?

we took our DC this year for the first time.

DD just turned 4 in Dec
DS turned 2.5 in Dec

We took the train in (which alone was fun), went to see the tree, ice skaters, went to Ellen's Starbust diner (food is awful, but they enjoyed the singing waiters), went to the Top of the Rock and by then they were wiped. We were going to go to the M&M store or Toys R Us, but they were just too tired.

They talk about it all the time. They really had fun.

Beware of the Elmos and other characters near Radio City , well actually all over the city, as they are expecting money and the kids are drawn to them. I haven't been to the city in YEARS so maybe this isn't new. BUt my kids saw 5 Elmo's and went NUTS. They all had stockings and expected donations. I ran out of money and my DS cried.

We took our 1 year old on Monday. We went to the tree at Rock Center, the shoppes at Bryant Park, and Macy's to see the windows. It was really cold, so bundle your DC up. We had him in the full snow suit. He loved the tree and the windows.

DS is 3 and this is the first year we did it with him...we also took him to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular this year. It was the perfect age for it, IMO.

I wouldnt take a 9 month old, as they probably wouldnt get it, plus its too cold for a baby to be out in all day, IMO.

Yes, we want DC to be exposed to city life since I grew up there... what better time than during the most festive part of the year?

We're taking DC to Santaland today. Hope it's not too crazy!

We take DD to the city..we live a subway stop away. She doesn't get much if anything out of it. When we went in to see Santa @ Macys Herald Square, the tree, bryant park shops..she slept the entire time, except when I woke her for her pic with Santa. And it's bitter cold out here in the city. I get that you want to take him...I did too..and I'm glad that I did. But the day we came it wasn't so cold. I know she had no clue and will hav eno memories...but I do! I guess what I'm saying is...it's a personal decision. I just think it's very very cold in the city..the buildings create windtunnels...not fun.

I'm one of those people that likes to have traditions with my DS, regardless of the fact that he's only 9 months old for this, his first Christmas. And I also bring my DS everywhere I go when it's to "do" or "experience" something. At least for now.

We went to Santa Land at Macy's to meet Santa two weeks ago. If we had gone earlier in the day, I had wanted to make a day out of it and go to TRU in Times Square and ride the wonder wheel, and go see the tree at Rockefeller Center.

Just today I brought my DS to the city and we went to see the tree. Unfortunately he was asleep at that point so our picture consists of me, DH, and a stroller - you can't even see DS because he was asleep and laying flat, lol.

But I'm still happy I took him!

I always took DS from when he was 14 mos old. We lived in the city then though and it was much less of an ordeal to get to the tree.

This year, we drove in on the Saturday eve before Christmas with my 3yo & 6mo old as well as my 2yo niece and let's just say we all agreed that they'd all be satisfied with the EAB tree next year Chat Icon I didnt even have my double stroller, just my Bug (that I used every year with DS) and people were awful and it just was way more stressful than fun. At least DS loved FAO... my infant got NOTHING out of it but an ear infection and major cold Chat Icon
