Do you leave candy out for the Trick or Treaters?
We did this last year with a little sign to leave candy for the other kids and came home to candy still in the bucket.
We are doing it again this year, but I was wondering how many other people do this?

I put half thie candy out on the porch this morning befor I left because I wasn't sure when we'd be home (and I think most of our trick or treaters will be the little kids in the neighborhood and will come earlier than later).

I wouldn't in the neighborhood I live in now. There were already smashed pumpkins on the street this week. I'm sure the candy would get emptied by one of the teenagers that hang out across the street at my neighbor's house.
But in the new neighborhood, I might to see how it goes. So I could catch the really little guys who trick or treat before dark. It must stink to not have people home that early.

I have done it in the past.... I've always found the kids very respectful,taking only one or two pieces each...... I have a lite schedule today so I'll be home early enough to give it out......

We've done that if we out of the house. DS has a party tonight at karate, so during the party we'll do that. If we're home, we answer the door. The neighborhood kids have been pretty good over the last several years.

We only do it cuz we aren't home until 5/6 p.m. and most of the little kids are out when it's light out.

We do it because our beagle goes nuts every time the doorbell rings.
We always have left over candy. The younger kids don't seem to take as much. It is the older ones that seem to be more greedy.

I usually just get a huge box of blowpops. So I'll put half of them out while we are at work, and then we have the other half for when we get home.
Last year there was not one pop left. I don't know if we get a lot of kids, or one greedy kid takes it.

Definitely not!
My mom did it once by accident and I remember I thought I heard some kids laughing but they never rang the bell. I went to the door about 15 minutes later and there was an empty bowl on the front bench.
I realized my mom left the bowl out when she was chatting with the neighbor and these kids saw the bowl, emptied it out and left.

I think of it this way... if 5 kids come before the greedy kid comes.. then those are 5 more kids that got candy than if I would have not done it.

We get so few, we probably could and be okay. We're home all day, but after 7ish, hubby likes to shut the porch light and close the door - he is not a fan of Halloween .

The woman across the street did it and I thought about doing it but decided against it. I'd hate to come home and find that some kid had taken all of the candy. So I'll just wait to hand it out later.
