Do you have to make reservations ahead of time for Newport restaurants?
 t.y very much :)
We're headed there this weekend and I want to know what to expect - should I call ahead at certain places? Or day of?

I have never been but I sure it can't hurt to make reservations. Where are you staying? Newport is on my list of places to visit.
