Do you give your 2 year old candy?

I never give DD candy - at all. She went trick or treating but never ate that candy. I did bring a lollipop when we tried to do pictures but she had zero interest. Yesterday she had her 2.5 year ped appt and the ped told her to go get a lollipop and I realized it was the 1st one she had and he looked at me like I was crazy and said he couldn't believe she never had candy before.

Am I the only one who doesn't give their child candy? She does get the occasional cookie but I have never given her candy. Most of it seems like a chocking hazard to me anyway.

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

DD gets mostly m&m's and lolipops.

Occassionally will have a kit kat, but that is rare and only the fun size bars.

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

Jack started getting lollipops when I had Tyler (8 weeks ago) and now he gets one every week when Grandpa comes to visit him. It's his special treat from Grandpa that he loves.

I also learned an amazing trick to give him a ring pop (or bottle pop) for when I am out shopping. It keeps him happy for the time I am out running my errand.

Other than that he hasn't had any other candy.

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

When they were toddlers I allowed them to have candy as a treat once in a while.

I'm all about 'everything in moderation'.. but I don't think it's outlandish that a 2 year old might never have had candy before.

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

on rare occasions DS has had candy....lollipops when he gets a haircut, M&Ms on his birthday, and some chocolate on Halloween. I don't think it's a big deal once in a while, but I don't want to make a habit of it

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

Bella gets all kinds as "treats". Mostly M&M's (her fav) and Hershey kisses.

She loves her lollipops though, so she gets them more regularly then say, a piece of chocolate.

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

The only candy he likes are lollipops - he gets them for haircuts and the rare occasion he makes pee pee on the potty. Otherwise, he hates all other candy, so it's a non-issue...

You betcha.

He doesn't EVER finish it though, a lollipop will be a few licks and then the dog gets it, and he doesn't seem to really love M&Ms because he holds them too long and they get gross.

He does like Reeses Pieces thoughChat Icon

Hardly ever. I can't say we eat as healthy as I would like but we have not introduced a lot of candy.

DD had her first candy on Halloween. She had one piece of chocolate. Since then she has had two more pieces of chocolate, but that's it.

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

I chose 1 or 2 occasions even though its a little bit more often than that but not by much. If he has a sore throat, I allow him a lollipop or I used a candy cane to get him to take a good Christmas pictures.

No chocolate bars at all and now that I think of it only lollipops and we only started those within the past 2 months.

He likes cookies and if he doesn't know what he's missing I see no need to start candy.

We went to a tree lighting last week and Santa gave him a candy cane and he just held it because he didn't know to eat itChat Icon A lot of other candy scares me as a chiking hazard, too. They have YEARS to eat candy so I'm not pushing it.

Re: Do you give your 2 year old candy?

We're in the "never" category. I tried to give him a lollipop on Halloween and he wouldn't take it. He knows what candy is but doesn't realize that you're meant to eat it. So since he doesn't have interest i don't force it.

We haven't give my 2 year old any candy. He also went trick or treating and didn't eat any of his candy. I agree that a lot of candy seems like a choking hazard.

and here.....my parents house might as well be a candy store. my mom has an enormous jar that DD attacks whenever we're there! otherwise i don't give it at home that much b/c of this.

I'm with you, I don't give Logan any candy. Whenever we get his hair cut they always want to give him a lollipop and I tell them no that he's never had it and they all look at me in shock. I finally let one hairdresser give him one when we went last month and I told her it was his first one she was asking me why. Lol. I only give him a pieace of lindt chocolate here and there, or to brib him to finish his food.

I don't plan on giving DS candy for as long as I can. I'm hoping nursery school?

However, DH gave DS a taste of Twix today and it made me sooooooo upset. Chat Icon
