Do you drink when you eat?
I dont mean like a beer or glass of wine, while you are eating do you drink something? My SIL had gastric bypass and her nutritionist told her that it is better not to drink anything while you eat, or 20 minutes before you do.

sometimes I have to, depending on what Im eating...for example pizza or peanut butter. I need something wo wash it down

if it's something hot (temp hot) or spicy, I drink quite a bit. but usually I just sip.
I didn't know it's not good for your digestive system. interesting!

Yes, I've had people in the health profession tell me to sip as little as possible when you eat and chew thoroughly as it helps to better break down the food and start the digestion process.
Now I will have a glass of water near me but only try to sip as little as possible.

I heard the same thing. When you drink while you eat, you dilute the stomach acids which digest your food, making digestion more difficult.
I still drink a little while I eat.

Nope...In my family, unless it's red wine, usually we don't drink untill after we eat. Everyone thinks I'm crazy.

oh my goodness! i never knew this! I usually drink soooooo much while I eat - more than any other time of the day! and here i thought i was doing the RIGHT thing - if i drank more i would eat less! this explains alot  thanks for posting this info!

I actuallly don't drink while I am eating, but I have never heard of that before.

constantly drinking and eating at the same time...but it's coincidental that you bring this up b/c my grandmother never drinks while she's eating...NEVER....and I've always wondered why...

I never knew either and I alway drink so much too!
When I was staying with a host family in Europe I always hated the little shot glass that they gave me for drinking. I felt like I was dying of thirst! I thought you were supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day, so figured it didn't matter when.
Do you think that you'd lose weight not drinking with dinner?

That is interesting - well maybe she told her that b/c when you have gastric bypass your stomach can only take in a very small amount of liquid or food at one time.
I know most books tell you (and a nutritionist once told me) to drink a large glass of water before you eat b/c it will make you feel full so you will eat less.
