Disney meal plan: yay or nay?

Did you do it? Would you do it again? Does it really limit where you can eat?

We are going for 6 days...we are definitely planning at least 3 character meals...

Thanks!

DEF YAY!!!!!! It worked great for us and everyone we went with!!

We used it for our Lunch and Dinners and paid for Breakfast because it was so much cheaper.

It didn't limit anything we ate. They paid for everything. We even got desserts. I have been raving about it ever since we got home.

Sorry I added that after I postedChat Icon Everywhere we planned on eating took the meal plan except in Downtown Disney at the T-Rex Restaurant but we knew that. It isn't a Disney Restaurant.Chat Icon

I would say yay. We did it for our trip. No it doesn't limit you where you can eat- almost every table service and counter service is included - although some TS are 2 credits instead of one (signature dining).

The basic plan gives you 1 counter service - (1 non alcoholic drink, entree and dessert or combo meal and dessert - so you can get i.e. - bottle water or large soda, hamburger and fries and a piece of fruit, cake or cookie.) 1 Table service meal - (1 non alcoholic drink - entree and dessert - you still have to pay for tip) and you get 1 snack a day. Honestly we saved a lot of money.

It isn't as good of a deal as it used to be when they included appetizers and tips but it is still a good deal IF you go to more expensive restaurants and order more expensive items on the menu (like steaks, fish etc).

If you don't want to do table service there is a new counter service plan for 2009 and if you want MORE meals there is a deluxe plan that gives you three meals a day which is good if you want to buy breakfast lunch and dinner.

For counter service they were giving us 2 drinks and unlimited for table. It was so weird but we didn't deny it. They also never charged for drinks for Andrew.

And the tip was included in all of our meals except the ones were all 30 of us ate out. Then it was seperate.

Maybe we had all new peopleChat Icon

Well at TS the drinks are free refills - but at counter service you were getting 2 sodas or a soda and botted water? Did you get a dessert too? I know most will sub a dessert for bottled water

I know with table 6 or more the tip is automatically added to the bill - did you have deluxe dining or regular dining?

Etd to add tip isn't included in any of the dining plans though

Go to allearsnet.com and if the prices work out in your favor, go for it!

I didn't book it because I don't want to do a TS meal everyday since it takes a chunk of time.

Re: Disney meal plan: yay or nay?

Totally worth it for us - buy your drinks and use the snack $ for food if you are a big eater. Generally, we had something small in the room or didn't eat much for breakfast and used the meal plan at the parks. If you expect to be at the park all day, I say it's definitely worth it for the convenience alone. I think we saved money, but even if we didn't, it was nice not to have to worry paying - just use your room key and you are good.
