I'm finally starting to plan our 2017 trip, lol. I think we're going to drive, unless I decide we need more park days.

Not sure how old your kids are, but I went for the first time with 3 in Feb. Mine were 5.5, 3, and 7 months. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. If you have questions let me know.

Disney 2017

I just got back. This was our first true Disney trip. I was not excited as I hate to be that scheduled. It was a great trip. We did Hollywood Studios on Friday and animal kingdom on Monday. Iran a 10k and half Marathon while I? was there some we did not do Parks those two days.

If anyone is going to animal kingdom the new pandora rides are a MUST. The flight one is beyond amazing!!!!!!! We had a fast pass for it otherwise the wait was 2+ hrs.

Re: Disney 2017

I just got back yesterday. Here is a review of my trip:

I have to say I was NOT expecting the crowds to be as big as they were... it was to the point where at times it was hard to push a stroller through a crowd. We were there Friday (HS), Saturday (MK) Sunday (wedding during the day, Disney Springs at night) and Monday (MK). I felt Monday was more crowded than Saturday! Most rides had long waits. At lunch time it was hard even to order food because the lines for quick service places were out the door.

We stayed at the Pop Century and it was fine for us, we weren't in the resort much anyway.

We had an issue with Disney Magical Express not taking our luggage from the airport when we arrived. We were told that if our plane landed before 10pm they would take the luggage, and we had it tagged to go to our resort. Our plane landed shortly after 9pm. At 6am I realized we still did not have our luggage and so I called down and they did not know where the luggage was. My DH ended up having to take a cab to the airport to see if it was there, and thank goodness he found it, it was sitting in some office. Because of the issues, Disney offered a $50 credit but I got them to up it to $100 since $50 can barely buy you two t-shirts there lol.

We opted for the Disney Dining plan which I feel was worth it. We did two character buffets (Hollywood and Vine at HS and Crystal Palace at MK), food wasn't good but we only did them for character experience. We also ate at Jungle Navigation Skipper Canteen at MK because it was the only place we got a reservation at, I wasn't expecting to like the food but it was surprisingly good, and they had no issue with making my kids grilled chicken and french fries since that's all they pretty much would eat. At Disney Springs we ate at Raglan Road which was good and it was nice to see the entertainment there (they have irish music and dancing on stage).

As far as the return, MCO airport was crazy crowded... one airline in particular had a huge line just to check in and check bags (Frontier) I was thankful I was flying Jet blue at that point. The TSA screening lines were crazy long. My son has a disability so we were able to have a TSA agent take us through, but I heard people complaining that they'd been waiting for 45 minutes. If that was the case then I am sure lots of people probably got close to missing their flights. I feel like Disney should do pick up for Magical Express earlier than 3 hours before because of all of the issues going on at the airport.

Overall the kids enjoyed seeing characters so it was nice to see their faces, also I purchased memory maker which I felt was worth it because now I can just download all of the pics from my trip.

Next time I go, I will have to look for a time where there are less crowds (if that even exists!)

Any holiday weekend at Disney is going to be a madhouse! Combine Veteran's Day with Jersey Week crowds, and it's pretty busy!

Did you get a renovated room at Pop?

In the future, at MCO those with disabilities go in the wheelchair line, which is considerably shorter. Also you can call and arrange for TSA cares (but I'm not sure what that entails at MCO...probably the same line).

Hi! No we did not get a renovated room, we asked for a building close to the main area so we didn't have to walk very far to the buses- we were in a building in the 60's which has not yet been renovated but it was fine. We were barely in the resort, just to sleep.

I did contact TSA Cares and although JFK airport got back to me, no one from MCO did. So they told me to talk to a manager, when I did he had a TSA officer escort us through.

I didn't know about Jersey week until a friend told me to look it up.

DH wants to go back in 2 years for his 40th birthday but I really have to investigate what is considered the time of year with the least amount of crowds.

Yes and honestly it is a good thing that they are... if the TSA lines are anything like what I saw on Tuesday then people will need to arrive early.

yup- jersey week combined with one of the Disney runs also going on meant a lot of extra crowds. We did a Disney cruise from Port canaveral and noticed a lot of extra traffic at the airport and we paid an insane price for our flights :-/ we've done the parks at the end of August for 3 years in a row and have pretty good luck with crowds-- its HOT, but lines aren't bad.... i don't think theres any slow time anymore though. Disney keeps adding parties and festivals and runs during he slower times to bring in more crowds :-/

I was there for the wine and dine run. Crowds were not bad at all IMO. Lines had normal to low waits except for pandora.

UGH! I hope not. Our flight home on our last trip was delayed 2 hours. We were notified by the airline 5 hours in advance and still had to take our scheduled Magical Express and then sit in the airport for the extra 2 hours.

You could have taken the next Magical Express bus. We have done that in the past.

I wouldn't do that without calling Magical Express. My sister was coming back from a quick trip two weeks ago and when the ME stopped at Grand Floridian, 2 families were unable to get on the bus. Apparently people who weren't scheduled to be on that particular pickup had taken the bus anyway and there were no more seats for them. The bus driver had to call in and request an additional pickup. They do count the seats, and we have been on magical express buses that are completely full.

I just saw something that said Magical Express is picking up 4 hours before flights starting tomorrow.

UGH!

Yup, of course call. People miss buses all the time, change trips etc., so you can tell them your flight is later and you want a later bus. They aren't matching anyone up with their flight information to confirm that your flight is when you say it is, etc., and that goes for both ways...to/from the airport.

It’s true. Pickup is now 4 hours before your flight. We are dreading this.
