Did your insurance cover your newborn hearing screening?
United Healthcare is saying we have to pay for this and I just find it odd that it's not covered, especially since it's mandated in the state of NJ where I live. I think it is in NY too. Did you have to pay for it?

Ours was covered with Oxford but it took a while for them to put the claim through.
eta: I think Oxford is now part of the United Healthcare system.

I had Oxford and they covered it. This is the test done in the hospital, right? What hospital did you deliver in? Maybe it is the way the hospital entered it into the system. Have your doctor fight it.
Also, did you get a bill for it or is it just listed on the Health statement? If it is not a bill, it is just an FYI and they will eat the cost.

I would appeal it. It should be covered, especially since it's not optional and you don't have the choice to decline it.

I have United healthcare and they intially rejected it but we got it covered when it automatically was appealed since we had no choice in picking providers and it was a mandatory test.

it was covered for DD...Im not 100% but I thinki we had united healthcare at that point. (2 yrs ago)
