I didn't have one. My sister and I got Broadway show tickets for the whole family for our 16th Birthdays.

I was given an option..either have a (1) Sweet 16 party at a hall or (2) Save $$ till I turned 18 and would get the option to get a car....GUESS WHAT...I decided to save and at the end didn't get anything b/c other things happened within those 2 yrs

yes, but it was pretty casual...in a VFW hall and my mom and her friend made all the food...about 80 people.

I did not have a sweet 16 party because I had a bat mitzvah so I felt having another party like that would be a bit much. My immediate family and 2 of my close friends went to tavern on the green and to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway as my "celebration"

No, but when I was 16, not many people had big parties - they were more of the backyard variety.
I didn't want one, so my mom took me to get my ears pierced. I think she felt like we had to do something special.

I had 15 friends go to TGI Fridays..lol! It was all I wanted. I LOATHED the idea of having a big party where i was the center of attention-being to tons of them was enough to turn me off to having a big one.
My mom made favors still for the table at Fridays and I remember being horribly embarrased...and asking her to leave them in the car. I think I made her cry 
But..I was only sixteen! We still had fun-everyone went back to my house for cake and stuff afterwards.

Nope, no way - I was very 'anti' Sweet Sixteen's back in the day ..
My friends were all older than me and I just thought they were "lame" .. what a smart azz I was right?

I had a huge one, but it was with all family and family friends and I wasn't allow to have any of my friends. So pretty much it was for my parents and not for me, which sux. If I had to do it all again...........NO PARTY!

Also- I have a late birthday and after going to a ba-zillion of them all sophmore year, EVERYONE was sick of them. I know a few girls who had them junior year in Oct. & Nov. and no one showed up
