Does has anyone thought of what their diaper routine is going to be. Or for btdt moms what did you do...meaning what did you/will you use for diapers and wipes and then did you use powder or ointment all the time or only when there is a rash

In the beginning, we always used Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies wipes. We always put cornstarch on her when we change her. When/if she has a rash, we use Desitin.

Re: Diaper changing plans

we use pampers...first the swaddlers (bc they were given to me at my shower) then we switched to the baby dry bc they work over night plus they are what the Bjs near me sells. DD went right into size 1 diapers...we got newborn sizes in a diaper cake (so they were not returnable since they were opened) and had to give them to a friend bc they were too small.
we tried huggies size 1 but they didnt fit as well.

in terms of wipes, we actually dont use them. dd is three months old and we still use water and cloth like you do in the hospital. we use wipes only when she has a bad poop.

i was told never to use powder. we use vasaline and if she has diaper rash we use desatin.

We went through the Pampers we had first and then realized that Huggies fit him better. We use the Little Snugglers during the day and Snug and Dry for overnights. We use Huggies Sensitive wipes and A&D. Now that it's getting warmer out I'll also use cornstarch.

Re: Diaper changing plans

For DD and DS we started with Pampers Swaddlers and then eventually switched to Baby Dry. We always use the A&D. We also only used the Pampers Sensative wipes.

We plan on doing the same thing this time.

Re: Diaper changing plans

We used Pampers swaddlers until she grew out of them and then moved on to Pampers Cruisers.

For wipes we used Pampers sensitive until I wised up and started buying Target brand (the blue package). Never had any problems with either brand of wipes.

For ointment we use Desitin only when needed, which is very rare.

I never used powder for diaper changes.

Diaper changing plans

I used pamapers only in the beginnign but that was only because MIL bought me enough diapers for a small village. Same with wipes. When I fianlly had to buy them myself I switched to target wipes and either Pampers or Target diapers....dependign on Pampers sales and coupons.

I only use ointment as needed. Thanskfully DS has only had minor rashes that woudl go away with a few uses of ointment. Have never used powder.

I used whatever I got at my shower first. Then we switched to Luvs. I only use diaper cream (aquaphor) when needed.

Re: Diaper changing plans

FTM who never changed a diaper here!...

What's the purpose of powder/ointment? Can you just use wipes and call it a day when you change?

Re: Diaper changing plans

we used pamper swaddlers. i bought some target diapers and both times I tried them DS got a terrible diaper rash... after first one cleared up i had waited a week and tried them again... it was even worse the second time. so we are just sticking with what works!

pampers senstive wipes and aquafor applied at each diaper change. if/when he got a bad rash extra strength butt paste cleared it up super quick.

Diaper changing plans

I've always used Pampers Sensitive in the beginning and then switched to Swaddlers for size 1. I use the Pampers Sensitive Wipes for the first few weeks then switched to the sensitive. For every diaper change I would just use petroleum jelly unless there is a rash then I would use Bordeaux Butt Paste. Powder is a no no down there since it can cause yeast infections; even though our parents used it on us and we are fine. The cornstarch one is ok but not regular powder.

Pampers diapers, Huggies wipes!
Desitin ointment -- the purple version -- this has the highest concentration of the ingredient to treat diaper rash. I only used it as necessary - definitely not every time. You'll know when to use it -- when their butt is really red and it's almost painful to wipe (DC cries). I only sprinkled powder after poopie diapers - more for fragrance - and that was when DS got older.

Re: Diaper changing plans

BTDT here - Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies Natural Care wipes - the wipes are big, thick and unscented and IMHO better than Pampers wipes.

For diaper rash we received 4 different kinds as gifts and we try one for 2 days if it doesn't work we switch it up. We only use it as needed though and not every day.
