Confused about what to register for (stroller/infant seat related)

I am unsure of what the best option is for what I want in regard to the stroller/infant seat situation.

I know for sure that I want the graco snugride as the infant seat.

I wanted to go for the Graco metrolite stroller with a coordinating snugride, but there are not many pattern options available. The more I think about it, the more I am unsure of the necessity for a stroller at the infant stage.

Would the snugride snap-in infant car seat frame take me through until the baby outgrows the seat, without having to have a compatible stroller?

Or should I have a stroller that is more sturdy to be compatible with the seat in addition to the snap-in frame?

If the snap-in frame can take me through until the baby outgrows the seat, then I feel I will have a larger variety of options in regard to a stroller . . .

So many decisions

Yes, and this is what I wish I did with G. I hated the travel system, but like you I wanted the ease of the infant seat in the beginning and liked the Graco. I absolutely hated the Graco stroller, andreally wish I had done a snap-n-go instead. I use a jogging stroller, which I had actuall bought for DH to use with G, and by far is the most comfortable and easiest stroller to maneuver.

HTH

ETA: I put G in the Britax as a rear-facing seat as soon as he was able to hold his head up with some skill & took him out of the infant seat, which was at about 6 mos, so he was in the jogging stroller since that time.

Re: Confused about what to register for (stroller/infant seat related)

We didn't get a "travel system", we got different patterns for the carseat and metrolite. I don't know why, we just did it that way, and it never bothered me that it didn't match.

We also had a snap n go, which which is all we used for the first few months. Once it got warmer, it was nice to have the option of taking DD for a walk in the stroller without the carseat. I would recommend the Graco brand....we had a problem with our metrolite which was still under warranty...we mailed it to them, they checked it out and mailed us a brand new one. They stand behind their products.

Then when she was closer to 1 we got a maclaran which is great....travel all over with it now.

DD will only be 19 months when DS is born, so we're trying to figure out the whole double stroller thing. Just what I wanted, another stroller Chat Icon .

I chose an infant seat (Graco Snugride) and the Snap n Go for the infant stage. I didn't want the weight of a full sized stoller while the baby is in the infant seat.

Then we selected a full sized stroller for use later on once the baby is out of the infant seat.

Re: Confused about what to register for (stroller/infant seat related)

I registered for, and got from my sisters, the travel system with the infant seat that snaps into the stroller.

I'll be honest....I have not even used the stroller yet and Kaydyn is a year. We used the snap and go frame until she could sit up and then we bought a really lightweight stroller that we still use. I feel like the stroller that comes with the travel system was so bulky.

But I know plenty of people that LOVE their travel system. My cousin and his wife got a lot of use out of theirs.

Re: Confused about what to register for (stroller/infant seat related)

I registered for the Graco Snugride and Metrolite in Sterling. I did consider getting the Snap & Go but figured the Metrolite was only slightly heavier than the Snap & Go. I wanted to be able to take the baby for long walks right away, and I was told Snap & Go wasn't ideal for that (though I've heard others don't agree and think it's fine). I have a pretty hilly/bumpy neighborhood so I'm happy with my choice.

This is exactly what we're doing (except Double Snap n Go).

I have the double snap n go that I am using for them now with the Graco Safe seat(I think-they were my friends so not sure) I am getting the Valco double jogger for a regular stroller. Its side by side. The snap n go is GREAT so you don't have to wake them to go to stores, etc. The seats are already heavy and mine weight 13 and 11 pounds each-I would not want to carry them around in those.

ETA: You can probably get a snap n go on craigslist for 40-50

Re: Confused about what to register for (stroller/infant seat related)

I registered for the graco snugride & the snap n go. I am really confused about the stroller so I decided not to decide for now. I figure the baby won't be born until April and then I'll have another 5 months with the snap n go - so I have about 8 months to figure out what will work best for us.

Re: Confused about what to register for (stroller/infant seat related)

I just made a post re: my double stroller (that can be used as a single). Above all- I found my Graco Snugrider (same as a snap and go) to be my most used item.

Re: Confused about what to register for (stroller/infant seat related)

I registered and received the Graco Safe Seat, Graco Snap and GO and a Peg Perego P3 stroller. I didn't want a big travel system, but wanted the ease of being abel to snap the car seat in a frame.
Don't have the baby yet, but I love the Peg Perego. It is so light weight and is so easy to maneuver.
