Yes, a vagina is my only requirment when it comes to voting for elected officials.

to answer your questions:
1. i am not voting for mccain/palin b/c sarah palin happens to be a woman. i was hoping he'd pick lieberman - i like him a lot. but, i was still happy with his decision to choose palin anyway -- none of which had to do with the fact that she is a woman.
2. i don't really know about "life long" lol i only reached the age to begin voting in time for the last election four years ago. i would vote for a dem - there are a few local dems i love: steve levy, i think he is doing a great job with suffolk county and i absolutely completely LOVE tom suozzi -- i wanna air hump the heck out of him! he is fantastic AND a democrat. that being said, i am registered conservative but i can feel differently depending on the person. i, for years, liked joe lieberman who was a dem but is now independent.
3. i make no where near $250,000 -- in fact, right now i make only $1,000 a month LOL because i chose to give up my full-time job to take care of my brother who has a traumatic brain injury (he was hit by a drunk driver while on duty - he is a policeman). he is in a rehab facility and needs as much personalized/family care as he can get. so, i only make about a grand a month plus i also go to school full-time so between that and taking care of kenneth my schedule is pretty jammed but there's not a whole lotta money coming in - AT ALL. that's ok though - it is worth it for him.

I see you are new to LIF and do not really Know me or my story, so I will fill you in...
I had open heart surgery in May of 2007. I have a 2 yr old daughter.
I own and operate a very small business (just me as a title closer).
DH and I make way less than 250K combined.
"Wanting for nothing" is an ATTITUDE my dear and I want what I already HAVE (a healthy child, a healthy husband who loves me). The ONE thing I do want is for myself to be healthy and my heart to be healed. Oh yeah, I have a congenital heart defect. I was born with this, I did not eat ho hos and twinkles for years nor am I 500 pounds. I have had heart disease since I was born.
My job is not secure, b/c it is attached to the housing market.
So I guess IN YOUR opinion I SHOULD vote for Obama then?

I am not fully committed to either candidate at this point. I have a LOT of research and investigating to do before I make a firm decision.
But I have to say it really burns me when people say "Don't bother voting/researching - NY is going to go to Obama anyway." 
I am voting anyway.

Voting for McCain/Palin because I believe they are the best choice for our future...NOTHING to do with her being a women, but I will admit who I was going to pick decided a lot on the vp picks....I pick Palin over Biden...
I was always a dem until I could vote and in the last 2 elections I voted for Bush...I do not regret it and will not apologize for it. It was my decision and I stand behind it.....
Joe and I make sig less then 250k a year, but yes we have secure jobs and HAVE everything we NEED. THIS is NOT what my decision is based on....
To be honest I am quite offended you would suggest because I will vote McCain/Palin I am well off...that is VERY narrow minded and offensive

ok, firstly i'm not going to repond to all your individual posts. none of this was personal and like you said i don't post and am not all that interested in your personal stories albeit i sympathise with you.
my questions were merely based on what i have read on the candidates.
obama proposes that he will NOT raise taxes for those who earn less than 250k so that's where the 250k came from. so if you earn less than 250k your taxes are not going to be raised.
mccain hasn't said anything on this so far from what i can find - i.e. has not proposed any threshold for taxes?
healthcare is linked to your employment so if you rely on your job for your healthcare and you lose your job you're kinda screwed under the current system? or am i missing something? i have heard mccain speak about transportable healthcare - so if you change jobs you take your healtcare with you to your new job - sounds pretty good to me. but where does the employer come in or is the government subsidizing in some way? i must read more on this.
in our house my husband earns more than 250k and does want to vote mccain because we're going to be taxed to the hilt by obama - he already moans about AMT. But he could lose his job tomorrow (you never know in this economy) and what we do then?? no healthcare. if either one of us gets seriously ill with the current system i'd be nervous. maybe i'm wrong but that's what's on my mind this election.
i too don't want for anything material as i think that's what you thought i was referring to, but i do want for peace of mind and a country i can be proud of.
sorry if you thought my tone wasn't agreeable to you but it was merely questions and hopefully now with some background it might make more sense.

ETA: I was a Hilary supporter... and don't 100% support Obama, but McCain, and especially Palin, pretty much go against everything I believe in, so Obama it is!
