close to home vacaion suggestions?

Next month will be our 5 year wedding anniversaryChat Icon
We'd like to get away but don't want to leave DD more then 1 night (well, I don't think my mom would take her longer then that)
So is there anywhere fun or romantic kinda close by?
DH said he wants somewhere we haven't gone & we have already been to Montaulk, so anywhere besides there.

Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz is really nice, we also stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Westchester and believe it or not, it was relaxing and we had a good time..

What about a night out in the City? Rent a room, go see a show and do a nice dinner. We did that for our 5th Anniv.

DH and I really love going to the North Fork of Long Island. We usually pick a super small winery and bring a picnic lunch and buy a bottle of wine on site. They also have a goat farm with delicious fresh cheeses.

I would also second Mohonk - expensive, but beautiful! You could also just stay in New Paltz and explore the area - it's very pretty and I think Mohonk allows day visitors for hiking and such.

I would do the city. Even though I work here every day I am always so jealous when I see couples wandering the quiet streets in the morning with their coffee, hand in hand.

If you want to get out of the city I would recommend Greenport. You could do the wineries on your way out and there are some great restaurants on the water.
