Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

If you live in an apartment, What size Christmas tree do you have/plan on getting? I would love a nice standard 7 ft tree, however, I dont think I have the roomChat Icon . I may get one of those boring table tops.. which I really REALLY dont want.

Also.. are you gettin a real or a fakie???

When I lived in an apartment, we had a 7ft a few years and it was fine. We had a decent size apartment though. The past few years before we moved we had a tabletop

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

We have a condo but it isn't huge...The past two years we had live table-top ones, but last year after christmas i bought a fake large one on sale. we'll have to rearrange furniture somehow to fit it!

Our first xmas tree 2 years ago!

We get a real 6ft tree. I love the smell.

ETA: if you prefer fake but miss the smell, you can get fresh pine wreaths. Chat Icon

We put up a 7" tree in our living room. It takes up a lot of space but I love it. we move the furniture around a bit to accomodate it and it's fine.

Here's how we work it out...

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

I've always lived in an apartment but I've never had a table top tree. I always got a live tree because it was easier than finding a place to store it for the rest of the year. I always get a tree that's about a foot or two shorter than my ceilings to allow for the base and the angel on top, which gives me a 6.5' or 7' tree now.

For years I lived in a basement apartment (with ceilings that *just* reached 6.5') so I couldn't buy a tree taller than me - that's how I'd judge it.

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

We have really high ceilings in our apt so we are able to get a pretty tall tree. We bought a new fake one last year (i think 7') and we will use it again this yr.

Real tree, and probably 7 feet tall-that is what we did last year & it was huge! We have plenty of room though.

I live in an NYC Studio - (w/ my DH !!)
We have one of those tall skinny pre lit trees (I think they call them pencil trees ...?) - Anyway, it's not as great as a big tree, but it's better than the depressing table top one !! -

I think ours is a 6ft tree. We have a decent-sized apartment so it fits well in our living room.

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

We live in an apt and have a 7' fake tree. (although it might be 6' and look like 7' b/c of the tree stand).

We move the loveseat into the spare bedroom, which allows us to center the tree perfectly in front of our living room window.

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

we live in a coop and we bought our fake tree from harrows the day after christmas 2 years ago. it seemed much smaller in the store, but when we put it up last christmas , we were shocked at how big it was. we can' t even put a tree topper on it bc it touches the ceiling. it doesn't even fit in our Living room. We push the dining table out of the way in the dining room and put it in there. so it's kind of in the entry way between the LR and DR. I swear it takes up like half the dining room Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon so when the holidays come, we call it the christmas room .

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

We always get a real tree, usually about 7 feet. We move our chair to another corner and put the tree in the corner where the chair normally is.

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

We live in a basement apartment and have only had a real tree...I stick to somewhere between 5-6 feet because we only have 7 ft.ceilings.

If you live in a apt. with at least 8 ft. ceilings.......go for the 7 ft. tree!! Just get a narrower one that all!!

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

We get a real tree. We certainly do NOT have a ton of space, but we get about a 6ft tree and it looks fine and it doesn't look cramped.

Re: Christmas Question for anyone living in an apt...

I have a fake one, but it is only about 4 feet. It is the perfect size for me, it doesn't take up a lot of space, but feels more like a Christmas tree than a table top tree to me.
