Christmas gift ideas - update on p2
I cannot figure out what the heck to get my FIL. Us and my bil & sil are grouping our gifts together and we are all totally stumped.
DH and I don’t have kids, so any personalizes grandpa stuff is out.
Mid 60’s
Doesn’t drink
No cigars
Doesn’t play golf like he used to
He’s a black belt judo sense and we’ve gotten him things along that theme through the years but now there’s nothing else we can get
He’s not techy (I have to help him fix his phone at times)
We ALWAYS get him restaurant gift certificates and it’s so played out. But will out of desperations
He has more pullover, windbreaker, polo shirts then one ever needs lol
HELP !!
Combined we can spend like $250
Whether it’s some small things or one big thing.

I know you said he doesn't golf much anymore, but Simplay in Hauppauge is neat (it's simulated golf). It's a nice setup in there.

My father once got my dh a remote car starter. It was a game changer. Not sure if $250 would cover it, but if you price around, it’s probably close.
There’s also lots of legit cover copycat bands playing around locally - Beatles, stuff like that, at Tilles Center and Westbury Music Fair. Tickets to that and dinner we’ve given before.

Thanks for all the replies so far
1. MIL gifts are done. But still considering doing some sorta combo because we are LOST.
2. No hobbies, power tools, sports (other than his judo competitions he goes to for his students) or suits - works from home. No cooking/grilling other than basic summer grilling and I got him some stuff for that last year.
3. The car starter would be a cool gift but he’s getting a new car within the next 6 months
4. He does gamble and they like to go to AC and Mohegan - this would be a joint gift for both of them not just a gift for him
I did see that Westbury has the temptations in Marc. I have tickets to that with dinner on my list of fallback options. Again - this would be a joint gift and nothing for just him .. desperate lol
Keep ideas coming if ya got em.

I couldn’t agree more. I argue with dH every year that all the adults have got to stop exhanging. Or if you HAVE to exchange , make it $20 limit of something funny or cutesy. THATS IT
I don’t exchange with my siblings and give my mother $ (because she can use it) and thankfully all the kids on my side are old enough where cash or gift cards are all they want. It’s so easy with them. But every year with his family is absolutely impossible. And it’s not just his parents and sibling ... DH is just as bad himself. It’s his 40th and Xmas in December. I have nothing. He has given me not one clue as to what he wants. So he will get nothing

Agree with all of this! Christmas is really for kids. Honestly you're driving yourself nuts (and draining your wallet lol) having to gift each of your in-laws separately and then jointly. It's kind of overkill. If you feel you really have to give them a gift then do one joint gift they can both enjoy and call it a day. Each family dynamic is different but I try to limit gift exchanges among other adults because I don't want a gift and I don't want the headache of shopping for people.

Couldn’t agree more. Every time I bring this up, DH says I’m being a grinch because I don’t like Christmas as it is. Which is true for so many reasons, one being this BS gift buying! I’m not cheap, so it’s not the money. It’s the fact that it’s completely impossible to do when you’re dealing with people who have everything they could possibly want or need.

I have this problem with my grandfather...he has hobbies, construction, gardening, golf, watching Italian football,But he has all he needs and if he doesn't, he will never tell us and go buy the tool or whatever he needs himself! So for Christmas I am making up a basket of wine, chocolate, cookies, crackers, hot sauce, biscotti, etc... I do this like every other occasion for him, but at least he will eat the stuff!

He should come up with the ideas then  I know what you mean, up until a few years ago I was wracking my brain out every Christmas trying to figure out what to get grown adults who don't need anything until I said enough lol if you stopped believing in Santa 30 years ago you get squat!

Christmas gift ideas
How about gifting a cooking class? I signed up for a sushi class recently and talked DH into going with me. He never cooks at home so I thought he would be bored and lost but he enjoyed it and made better sushi than I did. It was a fun experience.

Cologne is usually a given thought he didn’t say he needed any this year but we’ll get that anyway as filler lol
He uses a specific razor and shaving cream that my MiL has to buy in bulk from amazon because it’s so old you can’t find it anywhere. Did I mention he’s very old school? Ughh
And funny the PP mentioned cooking class because I was looking that up before I even read this but DH said no.
I did buy him a cute PJ set from cafe press. The shirt says something about being sensei on it and it has plaid bottoms.
So that and a bottle of cologne so far.
ETA: I really appreciate the help here guys! And I hope others are getting some good ideas from this post
