cervical length
I had my ultrascreen last week and I got a phone call yesterday from my doctor that she wants me to go to the hospital for a test for my cervical length. For whatever reason I didn't ask anything about it. Has anyone ever had this? Im a bit worried

Jenise ive had about 10 of these!! its no biggie at all!!! its just an internal sonogram! like when you first found out you were preggo it takes all of about 5 min!
they usually do it to make sure theres no changes or you have no problems with an "incompetent" cervix. i had them mostly after i was having all the preterm labor issues to make sure i wasnt dilating and that my cervix was up to par!
no worries hunny but DEF ask why they are doing this what are their concerns?

i think its standard. i had to go for a sono at 22w and the sono tech said she was just gonna do a quick check on my cervical length cause they didnt do it at my level 2. she said everything was fine and (in her words) most women would kill for a cervix like mine. i have no idea what that means  .

well they are making me go for that soul purpose to check it because the measurements they did at my ultrascreen made them want to check it...I also have a history of a leep procedure in the past so I think they are extra cautious because of that.
Im trying not to get paranoid about what that could mean but it just makes me a little nervous that Im going to have complications later on

 try not to worry. I have them done every 2 weeks since 12 weeks b/c of pre term labor and leep procedure related scar tissue etc. My cervix started to shorten majorly with my son and yet I still made it to 39 weeks...they just want to be cautious Im sure.

I have to get them done every 2 weeks as well my cervix has been shortening since week 26 and I am at week 30 now.... Its not a big deal just an internal sono its quick they might also do internal exam to feel the cervix and make sure its closed......

i had the same procedure done they checked my cervical length every other visit. they want to check to see if they have to stitch you up so there is no pre term labor. you will be fine. i lieve they will know if they have to stitch by no later than 13 weeks i think thats what they told me

I had a leep too...and I just requested a cervical length sono , my doctor is not concerned but I just feel better getting one....It is better to get it checked now rather than later.. It is a good thing dont worry you will be fine
