CDC recommends masking up in some locations …

CDC search

Can put state and county in and if you’re in an area that’s substantial or high, they recommend wearing a mask indoors - vaccinated or not.

It’s not going to be fun putting a sign on the door asking our clients to wear a mask being that we are located in a Substantial risk area. Really not looking forward to the nastiness. But we have to keep everyone safe, so wish us luck

It's just a recommendation not a mandate though right?

Good luck! I really feel bad for business owners. People are pissed they are changing the rules yet again. Personally I would put up the sign but I wouldn't say anything if someone comes in unmasked. It will happen and it is not worth the fight. It's "recommended" and not mandated. The CDC sucks!!

I agree. People can make their own choices as it's just a recommendation.
Even now all the signs I have seen in stores and public places say masks are strongly recommended for unvaccinated people. Even unvaccinated is still just a recommendation, not a mandate

Agree with both of u. In the times that we’re living right now, a recommendation is pretty much perceived as a mandate when it is not. All thanks to people like Cuomo, have u heard the latest shit that came out of his mouth? Chat Icon

Some of the most assinie shit I've heard in a long time.
More waste of taxpayers money
Like someone who isn't vaccinated is just waiting for someone to knock on their door to say...omg thank God you came! I had zero idea a vaccine was available! Omg! Where can I get it immediately?
Chat Icon
It's actually embarrassing that a leader would think this would be effective.
And put them in a car?? Omg that sounds really bad. Really scary actually.

Some areas of the state do in fact have an access problem so this will help vaccination efforts.

With cases on the rise, I’m all for wearing masks again. My son is too young to be vaccinated and still needs to be able to go out in public. He doesn’t have a choice to get the vaccine. Not even all adults can get the vaccine due to compromised immune systems. Wearing a mask when you’re in a crowded setting is a slight inconvenience, but is for the good of the community. Do I think some people can not tolerate a mask, yes, but I believe those are outliers.

I’ve noticed most people in my town have started to wear masks again indoors and I hope more people follow suit.

Good for them. Just stay the hell off my property.
Go to people who have the access problem and who have actually requested assistance. Don't waste time knocking on random doors like a band of Jehovah Witnesses

Such an attitude.

I’m saying that access is indeed a real problem. Maybe not on LI, but in rural areas of the state. There are literal healthcare deserts in this country. My DH was just out of west for work and someone at his site believed they had Covid. That guy had to drive 2.5 hours one way to get a test.

So as I stated rather than waste time and effort coming to people who don't want to be harrased in their own home by govt solicitors, the sensible solution would be to set up a system where you can request assistance getting to a vaccine site if you WANT and need the help.
But that would make too much sense for the inefficiency of the state of NY. Better to go knock on random doors and aggravate people

I was surprised when the mask mandates were lifted there, tbh. Still wearing them here. Although when the incident rate is under a certain number, we don’t have to wear them in parking lots now (pretty small here). Chat Icon Outdoors you mostly don’t have to wear one.

I don’t expect this to change until September at the earliest.

I guess wording it as strongly urge everyone who enters to wear a mask may help with the combativeness.

Though I don’t think our health is less important than someone’s feelings at this point. I get it’s not mandated but I don’t need a mandate for common sense. Everyone’s getting sick again, even vaccinated - maybe we should put the masks on again to try and help before we are forced to shut down for 2.5 months again and just make it by the skin of our teeth. A lot of small businesses didn’t make it out of that. We got very very lucky to get that PPP. Without it, we were done. Even with it, the climb back out was impossible. Plus here we are, all this time later and still have 1/2 the staff we once had because people are making too much with unemployment to come back. It was less than we paid in some instances but not by much.

Looked around quickly. Seems Suffolk county has an increase in cases, but deaths are still not even able to be charted as they are less than 10. Let’s hope that the increase in cases doesn’t lead to increase in deaths and we can continue to just learn to live with Covid and not have ridiculous restrictions again….mainly for our children.

I read that too and was hopeful for the first time since this whole thing started. If deaths stay down, for sure it can be treated like most bad viruses.

Exactly and I think there were 4 deaths since July 6th.
Our goal is less or no hospitalizations and deaths.

For the suggestion to go around to people's homes, I am with Nell. Especially in NY where people are more than aware of how to get a vaccine. If they haven't, they can't or do not want. Do not come around and harass people in their homes.

For business owners, it is up to your own business to make rules but don't expect all to abide as I think many are just done with this and now that vaccinated people are getting sick, they are more than annoyed of the pushing of a vaccine that obviously is not protecting everyone.

Yet our governor is spending FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLARS for the sole purpose of marketing and pushing the vaccine. No one sees anything wrong with this!??? Put the money into treatments, making the vaccines more effective and safe, or give it to people in need. This makes no sense especially given the situation and people should be disgusted that 15 million dollars is being spent on this!

15 million dollars? And there are parts of the state where access to the vaccine is limited per the post above?
Why isn't that money being spent to get the vaccine to people who WANT it and can't get it?
And then put the rest into fixing the roads in this god forsaken state.

This is backwards thinking. The vaccine provides a lesser level of protection against the Delta variant. IF more people had gotten vaccinated, the Delta variant would not be spreading as rapidly and would have much less opportunity to mutate and the level of infection among vaccinated would be lower.

AND, what WW tends to conveniently forget, one major reason the vaccine IS effective is proven in that very small number of hospitalizations and deaths that she likes to talk about. The vaccine IS EFFECTIVE in keeping the cases mild in the breakthrough cases that are occurring.

As far as I know, not every test, tests for the Delta variant so how do we even know if this is true?

Is there stats if vaccinated people are getting it from unvaccinated?

Vaccinated people are dying also.
This vaccine was pushed as it is 98% effective (excuse me if that number is incorrect) and that if you do get sick, it will be minor. Minor does not mean being hospitalized and dying.

We don't even know if vaccinated are getting sick from unvaccinated as there are not stats (as far as I know) out to prove this.

So what happens with the next variant (as there are always variants for viruses and flus), everyone needs to get a new vaccine and still mask forever because it might or might not protect you?
