Catholic Mommies: Are you giving up meat for Lent?

I will not be fasting, but what about the meat?

I have been staying away from fish because I keep reading conflicting things about what is safe and what is not safe to eat.

So I guess that leaves pasta and pizza for tomorrow and every Friday.

Yes, for today and every Friday I am giving up meat. I am fasting for today and I will also for Good Friday. Usually I will just eat a small dinner on those days but what I will do while pregnant is just not eat any junk food in between meals and I am having bland, simple meals and only drinking water.

Fish is GREAT for you while pregnant, I try to eat it once a week anyway.

I won't be eating any meat on Fridays during lent.

Other than that day, bring it on!

PS... I've been eating fish. Simple things though, like shrimp and tuna and salmon. It's yummy and I only eat it every once in a while.

I was planning on not eating meat on Fridays. But I have high blood sugar and need to cut down on carbs and sugar, so I may not have a choice.

I don't follow man-made "rules". Just my beliefs. So, no, I won't be giving up anything.

No I was told by my doctor that it wasn't okay since my iron levels are low enough right now. But I am giving up something for lent what I am giving up is all carbonated beverages.

yes, will give it up on Friday's. But I always forget and slip up so I just have to try and remember!

It's only on Friday's so I don't see why not.
One day a week without meat won't kill me or harm the baby I am sure!

I just avoid meat on frid. the rest of the week I eat meat

I'm anemic so I will probably not be strict about it even though I usually am. I will give up something else for lent though.

Im not catholic... Im coptic orthodox if you've ver heard of it lol, its Egyptian Christian. We fast for lent too.

Anyway... We are expected to fast for 50 days with no meat, no fish and no dairy products.... for the entire 50 days.


Since Im pregnant I'm not doing it but my husband wants to start soon and itss gonna be he11 cooking 2 different meals, one for me and one for him.

Yes, I'll abstain today and on Friday's. There is no reason for me not to.

I'm going to try to make it through today without eating meat. If I manage it, I'm going to take it on a week-by-week basis. I tend to forget about the no meat on Fridays unless its Good Friday, and even then sometimes I forget.

i will do my best, but its always been hard for me since i don't eat fish,
plus i am anemic even prior to being pregnant,
so as i said i'll try my best but we'll see what happens

I also am not fasting this year. Going to still give up meat on Fridays. I really haven't been wanting to eat much meat anyway so it won't be a stretch. We will do pasta w/ beans, or fish, those types of things. Breakfast for dinner. Our usually lent rotation.
