looking to book something for a weekend in july that is within a 2 hour drive from NYC (LI, CT, DE, NJ). would like to be walking distance from the beach. clean hotel. under $200.

does this exist? i already looked at AC and LI, but i can't find anything.
am i unrealistic? i realize this is a last-minute idea.

I stayed at Hotel Icona last summer in New Jersey. Its a nice place, rooms are beautiful, have their own kitchen, and the hotel has its own beach....not too far from the boardwalk either. You will need to book at least 3 nights though...good luck!
My son loved the hotel pool as well!!

We are going this August!
So glad to hear you loved it!
We can't wait!
I am a hotel snob and the jersey shore hotels are all shakey at best.
This one looked SOOOO nice.
Can't wait

Congress Hall in Cape May

But budget-wise it might be difficult.

It was amazing though.

I think it's going to be difficult to find something under $200 a night that is decent. Icona is almost $400 a night. You could probably get a small room at the Blue Palms in Wildwood for that price. Decent, but certainly small, no view, but a block from the boardwalk and beach.

My DH and I just went through this. There are some basic beach motels for that price, but the nicer, upscale places are more like $350-500 a night

Hotel Icona looks really nice. I have never heard of it before. We are looking for a resort that is driving distance.

As you know I am a hotel snob and this is the only place in Wildwood I would consider. It's actually in Diamond Beach which I hear is quieter and nicer with a nicer beach but still close to the boardwalk and all the Wildwood attractions. It's a bit pricey but IMO worth it . Brand new, all suites with kitchens, poolside service, beach service.
