can someone explain crib mattress pad vs sheet protector?
If the crib mattress has a waterproof mattress pad on it, then what is the need for those matress protector squares like the ultimate crib sheet?

I believe that the pad has more padding to make it a little softer whereas the sheet is flat adding nothing more to the surface than the waterproof feature.

I only used the mattress pad...knowing full well that if something happened to the sheet that I would have to change it and many times the pad....but the mattress was safe.
My friend uses both...and as a result leaves the mattress pad on more often because the sheets saved it as well.

I only use a regular sheet & a crib mattress pad---I do have an ultimate crib sheet and I only use it if DS is sick (like with a stomach virus) for quick changes
