Yes. I'm a married woman and I have a very good friend who is a man. He's not married, but he's been with his live-in girlfriend for at least 10 years. He and I have become friends with each other's spouses, too, which is great. We've never known each other outside of our relationships, meaning we were both in our current relationships before we met, so neither of us has ever been "available" to the other. I don't think there's any kind of interest in that way from either one of us (I know there's not on my part).
I will say it's much harder for men and women to be friends, because a lot of times one will at some point have an attraction to the other, but there are plenty of examples of when that doesn't happen.
The only problem I see is if a married person has a friend of the opposite sex that they hide from their spouse - secrecy is telling. As long as it's out in the open and you honestly have no feelings and you don't think your friend does either, it's all good. Not all men only think about sex

Could not have said it better myself. I have a couple of male friends that I have known for 10+ years. We all met when we were younger and single. Throughthe years we have all married and started families. All spouses know and there are no secrets. We have married frined time seperate from our spouses, and get togethers that include them.

 I guess so, but I know that DH would be VERY against it. if it was a guy friend I have had for 20 years or well before I knew DH, he MIGHT be somewhat ok with it. but I know for a fact that he still would not be thrilled about it.

Yes. I've been really good friends with a guy since the 7th grade. I can honestly, truly, definitively tell you that we NEVER had any kind of attraction toward one another.
Now we're both married and all 4 of us are really good friends!!

May I ask why?
he's the "jealous type". when we first met, he had issues about a guy friend I used to talk to. this guy friend was OOS and I only met him once (we met online and he was actually engaged when I met DH) and DH still had issues with it.
I just know him and how he is...

I have several male married friends. The key is that I make sure my DH knows about all my contacts with them and that I don't exclude him from plans with them (I do sometimes have lunch with them when DH is at work in the city, but DH knows exactly where I am, as do their wives).

I think they can be...I mean, I am friends with a lot of my girlfriend's DH's..we all hang out in a crowd. But I have also been friends with married men at work....it's no big deal to me.
