My husband worked at Bestbuy when we were first dating , he said to never take them, its just a way for the stores to make more money on nothing. HTH

we did on a certain tv because the bulb needed to be replaced (I think it was a DLP) so the warranty covered the cost of the bulb, we had it replaced once a year.

We don't, but had our 50 inch crap out after 1 year. It was a MAJOR hassle getting it fixed/replaced. So we wish we had on that one..

When we purchased our first LCD flat screen 5 years ago we did because the technology was so new. We ended up having them come out to look at and fix something so for us it was worth it. I think with the newer tvs no, I would not do it now.

Nope..our two Sony Bravias are still kicking and it's way past the extended warranty period.
A waste of moolah.
I had one on my grill but most warranties don't cover antyhing.

nope, i never do..
1) it is usually a waster because nothing usually happens to the tv within that time frame
and
2) technology is constantly changing and once it does conk out, I'll just go out and buy a better one..

I always do - my parents had to use it numerous times on TVs.
I know it's a waste but PC Richards was always great about repairing my parent's TVs when they crapped out.
I also plan on keeping our TVs for quite a few years.

Just beware that most warranties do not cover accidental damage like a kid throwing a toy at the TV and breaks it. Best Buy warranty does not cover it!!!!

I would never expect it too, I always thought a warranty covers only against manufature defects and issues

Absolutely, I by accident broke the screen on my LCD and best buy gave us a brand new one - best part of all was it an older model so prices had gone down so much we got one much bigger

samsungs are such lemons!
we did not buy warranty...1 yr and 3 weeks later TV broke.
I called samsung and told them they better stand behind their product. They extended my warranty for a one time courtesy.
big time issues with lcd

thank you. I was actually considering a 50" and the reviews were slightly better for picture but not sound vs the LG model so that's the one I got. DH really wanted the LG one and since it will be a huge surprise I didn't want to dissapoint him. the only other thing is I got Plasma because DH really wanted that over LCD. I actually wanted to get the LED but for that size its $$$$$ and after a little time it will drop like everything else. thanks again for that link!

DH always buys the extended warranties.
We bought a 52 inch TV when we first bought our house and after 2 months there were about 5 pixels that went out. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but once you see that they are out, all you can do is stare at them! 
Called the manufacturer who told DH that the number of pixels that were out was "acceptable" to them and they didn't have to replace or fix it. Let me tell you, DH was pi$sed because he just spent a ton on this TV and in 2 months pixels were already going out.
Since he had the extended warranty, he contacted the place he bought it from and they arranged for the TV to be replaced. So for us, it really worked having it.
