BTDT Moms What was your DCs sleep pattern at 2mo?

MY DS is 8.5 weeks and I am trying to get in to a sleeping routine with him.

Sinc birth he has pretty much fallen asleep while nursing, which was never much of a problem until recently. Now when we put him in his crib he wakes up, it has become a 2-3 hour process to get him to sleep at night. Last night after getting up a few times to rock or nurse him back to sleep we decided to let him cry it out. It only lasted 13 min. but it broke my heart and had me in tears waiting for him to fall asleep. We went through the same thing at 4:30 am after his feeding.

Today he has been better about falling asleep by himself, I have put him down awake for both naps and played soft music for him. So far so good, hopefully tonight goes well also.

His general pattern is up at 6:30-7:30 AM

back down between 9AM and 11AM, he then sleeps for 3 hours.

an afternoon nap around 4PM for 1.5-2 hours

and then I start the bedtime routine around 8:30 or 9PM and he is usually asleep between 10:30 and midnight.

I am thinking I should try to get him to sleep as close to 9AM as possible and only let him sleep for 2 hours, then get his afternoon nap earlier, around 2:30PM and again sleep for two hours, then start his bedtime routine at about 7PM.

Does this make sense for a child his age?

when was he born?
DS was born XMas Eve

sounds like we have pretty much the same pattern
he is still waking up to eat about 2 or 3 am

i figure by 3 months he may sleep for a longer stretch at night

Does he sleep from midnight until 730?? that is great!!!

My DS was born on Christmas Eve as well. Chat Icon

I don't mind his night time duration, it more I think he goes to sleep too late and that perhaps his daytime naps are off and causing that.
Also, I wonder if he is overtired at night and that is contributing to having such a hard time getting him to go to sleep.

hmmmm
well, i wish DS slept for that many hours straight at night
but I do start the bedtime routine earlier
in terms of baths, I give him a bath about 715; so he is out, dry and ready for a bottle before 8
then he eats and is done around 9
read him a few books and usually asleep around 10-1030

DS is 3 1/2 months and still not the best sleeper but he has been getting into a better routine the past few weeks. After a bath around 7:30 he gets a bottle and then usually falls asleep around 8:30 and wakes up again anywhere from 2 am - 4 am then back down and wakes up for the day around 7 - 8 am. I can't wait for the day he sleeps through the night.

Every 20 min??? Chat Icon That's a rough night!

I am seeing a theme of night time baths, maybe I'll try starting that, I usually give him a bath in the morning.
