BTDT moms of "bigger" boys (2 years old) - clothes size

DS will be 1 at the end of June. He will be wearing 18 months clothing this summer.

I am seeing a lot of clothing on sale for $1.50 and less for shirt so I would love to stock on clothes for DS for next summer.

Would 2T/24 months be too small for him?

Would he wear 3T? It sounds like that would be huge.

What size is your DS wearing this summer if he is 2 years old?

My son was the same as yours! But now this year he is wearing 24 months or 2t. SOME 18 month stuff believe it or not but mostly 24 months. Their growth slows a lot in the next year...they slim down from activity and at 1 year he was 24 pounds, at 21 months he is now 28...if that helps!!

This is my son too. He was 23lbs at 12 months and at his 24 month visit he was 28lbs and 35inches tall. He is so thin and 18 months still fit him. 24 months are loose on him still but I get it for length in the pants.

At age 2 my son was wearing 3T... My DD is now 2 and all her summer clothes are 3T. I would definitley err on the side of larger.

While growth does slow down, I don't think next summer he'll still be in 2T if hes in 18 months now. If anything, I always get shirts in a size bigger than the bottoms. Like my son is now 4 and he's wearing size 5T tops and 4T bottoms (little skinny butt).

Really?? Wow!

My son is a big kid and 3T would be huge on him. I guess they are all shaped differently!! He has a little waist but a big belly, lol. 24 months is the biggest he can wear on bottom, on top he wears a lot of 2T's but he'd be swimming in 3T!

If I were to buy Caden clothes for next summer I'd buy him 2T bottoms and 3T for tops..Summer stuff is easier to buy for b/c shorts can be short KWIM?

I am buying Jack 2T for this summer. I don't have a clue what I would buy for the future for this kid.

I was just going thru DS old clothes so I know this answer. My oldest started wearing 2T a little over 1.5 (but things cut 24 months around 15-18mos and 18-24 months around 12-13mos).

He started wearing 3T in tops around 2 and 3T bottoms a few months later - maybe around 26/27 months and can still abrely fit in the 3T bottoms now over 3...buying him 4T for the summer.

My youngest is following suit. He is 10 mos and about 23lbs and wearing 18mos or 18-24 mos in tops but still in 12-18 bottoms.

my son was 27lbs at 1 year. he was in 2T at a year also. but they do slow down dramatically after that. he was only 32 lbs at 2 years. once they hit the 3T area, thats pretty good for most of a year. i'd probably get the 3T stuff, he can always wear the shirts too big. ( I tend to buy bottoms closer to when they need them since those do fit smaller without much issue)

Sophie - at this point, I don't buy anything but 3t for Cailen. He is wearing 18-24 mts and 2t now, and he actually wears a lot of 3T t-shirts.....
