Re: BTDT moms.. 4oz bottles?

I would say yes. I don't think I used more than 5 bottles a day, on average. I think we used the 4 oz. bottles for a few months (maybe until 2 months?) but my son was a BIG eater. Chat Icon

my ds was formula feed from day one, and was already up to 3.5-4 ozs when we left the hospital. so needless to say i never used 4oz bottles. i went right to the 8oz.

Yeah mine was taking 4 oz per feeding by 4-5 weeks. THat held steady for another 6 weeks, but he's now pretty much downing 6 oz. per feeding.
I just skipped the 4 oz bottles, and bought 9 Dr. Brown's 8 oz bottles.

Re: BTDT moms.. 4oz bottles?

We used the 4oz bottles for maybe 3 months and now at a year we're using them again.

9 is more than enough. I never gave more than 5 a day.

I used them for awhile!!! It all depends on your baby but most newborns stomachs are soo tiny, so at first youll be only giving about 2ozs for a bit, then gradually moving to 4ozs. I dont remember exactly the month I went passed 4ozs, but I know DD was a few months old.

Re: BTDT moms.. 4oz bottles?

we used them for 4 months but if i could go back and do it again, i would only get the 9 oz bottles. they serve a dual purpose since you can continue to use them after they drink more than 4 oz. (my small bottles held 5 oz though--born free)

If I had to do it all over again I would have skipped the little bottle entirely so yes, 9 is def enough.

Re: BTDT moms.. 4oz bottles?

We just got rid of the 4oz bottles and DD is 7 months old.

If you have the drop-ins, you won't need that many bottles. We have the Avent disposables and we used just two bottles during the day. We would just change the liners and nipples.

I guess it depends on your need. DD doesn't go to daycare so we made fomula/BM bottles as we needed them.

believe it or not but my son is turning 2 and he still uses the 4oz. bottles... I give them to him if he wakes up in the middle of the night wanting something to drink..

Re: BTDT moms.. 4oz bottles?

I used them for at least 3 mos, and when they are that small it is so much easier to hold them and a 4 oz bottle as opposed to a 1/2 empy 8 oz. I also used glass bottles though, and the weight was significantly more in the 8 oz than the 4 oz.

ETA: I bought a 3 pack and that was fine, but I also BFed.

Ditto. You can put 4 oz. in a bigger bottle so there's really no point to them.

My son came out of the hospital drinking 4.5 ounces at each feeding. I think you'll have plenty.Chat Icon I had to use 8 ounce bottles almost immediately.

I totally agree with this. My DS is 1 month old and already taking 4 - 4 1/2 oz. The bigger bottles will last longer.

Re: BTDT moms.. 4oz bottles?

Are you planning on pumping or formula feeding? I think if they are formula feeding then they don't use those as long. DD used hers for a while but never was a big drinker - but we only used them for pumped milk. I think 9 would be fine as long as you don't mind keeping up with washing them. Although I wouldn't get too many of any bottles right away until you know which ones the baby prefers. I pumped but tried avent, born free before DD finally did okay with her Dr. Browns.
