Blue for Girl's Room?

DH and I both love the color blue. We picked out a beautiful bedding set that has pastel blue in it.

Well, we painted the room a blue pastel color and it looks great, but I'm getting a couple of comments from people like how can you paint a girl's room blue?

See the picture - walls are similar in color (if not lighter) then the ones in this picture. I think its beautiful and I see no problem with blue for a girl!

Are we crazy?

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

that bedding looks very pretty. But if it was me I would go with neutral cream walls and accent in colors in the bedding or sage walls. I just couldn't do a girls nursery blue, but then again, I don't think I'llk dress my girl in blue until I add a headband or something girlie.

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

No, I definitely don't think you're crazy. I love the color blue so regardless of sex, the room will have blue in it.

I don't understand why anyone would comment...it's not like a blue room will magically turn your girl into a boy Chat Icon

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

i don't think you're crazy at all. that is a gorgeous shade of blue - like a robin's egg! i think it's totally appropriate for either a girl or a boy, and no one is going to mistake your little one for a boy because the walls of her room are blue!!

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

our child's room will be blue whether it is a boy or a girl, because DH and I dont feel like re-painting the room, and we both really like the color... i think you can make blue girly or boy-ish

Blue ( in the shade you are talking about ) is very pretty. It's not like you can't accent other colors like yellows or a little pink. I am not even talking about now. You can always do it later.....down the road when she is done with her crib and ready for a bed.

I think blue is fine for a girl. My friends 7 year old daughter picked out blue for her room...and she's such a girly girl.

Oh course it is!

I had a pink room when I was little and then I chose a blue room when I was in elementary school.

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

You're not crazy. Our office which is becoming the baby's room is already painted blue... "Blue Stream" from benjamin Moore. I told DH that whatever sex it is I want to leave that color in there because I love it.

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

I would have no problem with it and I think it's great that you do it. I'm tired of pink meaning girl and blue meaning boy. But then again I really wanted to make our nursery a sports/Yankees theme regardless of sex.

Not crazy at all! Chat Icon Blue is my absolute favorite color and i would have done the nursery in blue, but my husband wanted a green.

Even if i have a girl, my little girl will be wearing blue! Chat Icon

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

My niece who is 5 just had her room painted last year and it is blue and has a cinderella theme. Go with what you like and don't listen to others, it's your choice, personally I think that nursery pic is beautiful!

Re: Blue for Girl's Room?

Thanks all! DH and I love it! It's bright and cheery, but also a very subtle.

It looks so blank now though because the room is empty. Once the furniture comes and we get an area rug and start decorating the walls, it will all come together!

Have a great day! Chat Icon
