Bittersweet day...(long)
I just had to share because 10 years ago I lost my mom to leukemia. Of course it has been very hard, but I am so fortunate to be married to the most wonderful man who has the most wonderful family and I am 6 weeks PG with my first child and grandchild on both sides.
What normally would have been a really sad day turned into a beautiful day because I was able to tell my grandmother (my mom's mother) that I was pregnant. She was overjoyed because my mom was her only child and I am her only granddaughter.
Then when I got home, my dad sent me a letter and a copy of book called "Before You Were Born" with a note inside to my brothers and I written by my mom before she died - it read:
"I am saving this book for all of you to share with your children. I will never forget what it was like to see you and hold you for the first time. Each one of you was a miracle in my life. I wish this joy for each of you. Love always and always - MOM!"
I feel so blessed with this baby!

OMG, That gave me the chills and tears. How very sweet and what a precious memory for you to have now after she is gone. That was so thoughtful of her, sounds like she was a great person.

That is an amazing story. You are so lucky to have that note from your mom. My mom died in 1989 when I was 10 1/2. At this point, I would give anything to even find something with her handwriting on it. That note is precious, and I am sure you'll treasure it forever.

That is such a great thing she left behind for you.
I lost my mom 3 years ago so I know its a hard to go through pregnancy without her with you.

Awww sweetie I'm so glad that you were able to turn the day into a happy day. My husband and I were talking about his mom yesterday whom he lost to cancer 5 years ago and it just never gets better...you will always miss that person as if they passed today...but now that we're going to be parents we have to try our best to keep her in the memory around us, so that our son grows up knowing her as if she was with us...its hard and bittersweet...

OMG how sweet. I am crying.
ETA: My mom and I had a small tiff this morning, I will be sure to straighten it out ASAP!
