Bellmore-Merrick School District

We are thinking of placing a bid on a house that is in the N. Bellmore elementary school district. Am I correct in understanding that for middle and high school, ALL the children from this district and the Merrick district are zoned for the Bellmore-Merrick school district? DH was concerned about our future children going to school with the same friends over the years vs being split into different districts.

The house we're considering is zoned for Mepham HS. Does anyone have any feedback about it? Some people have told me that Calhoun and Kennedy are better, but is it still a good school?

Thanks so much for your help and feedback!

All three HS are very good. Usually the kids who get split happen when they go to middle school and then are split between Calhoun and Kennedy. Almost all the Grand Ave kids go to Mephem so your child will likely stay with his/her friends.

Jackie - this is the district I just came from before moving.
Grand Ave - where N. Bellmore and Bellmore kids go to middle school - gets split between Mepham and Kennedy for HS - I have definitely seen friends split between friends once they go to hs.

As a Mepham graduate - I'd like to think it's a good school academically. I also went to Grand Ave and to Jacob Gunther in N. Bellmore. There are very few kids in Grand Avenue that end up going to Calhoun - they usually only go there if they are studying something special that the other schools don't offer.

We are zoned for Calhoun but looked at houses all over the area within the district.

I do believe that Mepham is a good school and have met a lot of people who agree. The district as a whole has a great reputation.
