Back from Rhode Island! So much fun!**PICS ADDED 6/24/07**

Ladies you were right! We had such a great time and I can't wait to go back one day !
We did the cliff walk which was amazing - we did it to the end - it was really rocky after awhile so wear sneakers or shoes with good soles. The mansions - we toured the Breakers, Marble House and The Elms. All were really amazing - beautiful. We didn't get to do the Astor's Theatrical tour - maybe next time - sounded like it might be fun. We rented bikes and drove up Ocean Drive - what views :)
We also drove up to the winery but missed the tour -nothing really much to see at the Newport Winery - wine was good; tastings weren't free, you could choose up to 5.
The weekend had beautiful weather (although a little chilly at night - bring sweaters!) and we decided on Saturday to go out on a sailboat ride - this was a lot of fun and I definitely recommend doing this!

Now for the food:
Lunch: Thai Cuisine (very good), Castle Hill(great martinis, good chowder, FANTASTIC view).
Dinner: Scales and Shells (LOVED my dish - had scallops,shrimp and calamari in a white seafood sauce with garlic and oil. Really love it here! Mama Luisa's (not to be confused with Lucia Italian). Amazing Italian food - I recommend the spinach side dish here and the Fettucine Bolognese. Last, The Mooring - sat outside and had a great view of the dock. We tried the "Bag of Doughnuts" appetizer - really great! Seafood was good. DH tried the wolffish - lol - he liked that a lot!


The Francis Malbone House
Breakfast was out of this world. The afternoon tea was soooooooo good - they had lots of finger food the first day we got there. We enjoyed everything. On Saturday it was hot outside so they made all these chilled teas and coffee, massive amounts of cakes and stuffed mushroom all over the dining room table. B&B had a beautiful courtyard where you could eat all your meals in. The location was really nice - you just walk out the front door and you're on Thames St! We liked staying in town better than other B&B's near the mansions b/c parking was pretty expensive and there was complimentary parking right behind the B&B. We never had to look for a spot! If we wanted to drive up to the mansion area - there was parking everywhere. So it really worked out. And it wasn't noisy at all. The bed was really comfortable and high (I had to have a running start to get up it LOL).

All in all - a wonderful time! I will try to post pics on this review when I get my camera.

Very nice. A very close friend was married at Astor's Beechwood almost 2 years ago.
