Baby Kyle arrived 3 1/2 weeks early
Thanks to my best friend Veronica who was able to post here for me.
Here is my birth story-
4/15- Dr sent me to Winthrop for preeclampsia testing in the morning, on a monitor for 2 hours and sent home.
4/17- Went to doctors. Put in bed rest due to preeclampsia
4/20-Dr called the 24 hour sample had "high protein". Sent back to Winthrop for preclampsia testing & for a high risk specialist to review it. Dr. advised to bring bag along just in case.
- 6pm left for Winthrop
-9 pm approx. admitted to be induced- 36 weeks 1 day. brought to L&D Room 13(which i thought was funny cause i was born on friday the 13th).
- I was then hooked upto the monitors. Given an IV, antibiotics, and Magnesium(to prevent seizures). The internal confirmed I was still 1 cm so I was internally given Cervadil(which hurt going in) and told it would be repeated in 12 hours if I was not upto 3 cms
-Luckily I progressed and was given Pictocin by IV. At some point my dr decided to break my water and I had a trickle- but then throughout the day I'd have trickles, and gushes. in the afternoon I ended up getting the epidural. I planned to all along, but was waiting til I felt far enough along. The Epi wasnt that bad, and I felt better after it. They gave me a button i could press to increase it, which I used. Some point in the evening the epi started to wear down and I was using my breathing to get me through it the mild pain i felt.
-At 10:15 pm I was told to start pushing. It went well at first. I was being told how great a pusher I was. They literally tell you to push like your pushing it out your butt I started to freeze. I wasnt pushing enough. I was exhaused. My legs felt numb. I had only had icechips for over 24 hours. After midnight I finally pushed enough to get the stirup calf bars they have. From their it was easy to get the head out and body.
Kyle was born at 12:30 am - Wednesday April 22. We were told he had fluid in his lungs so they were taking him to NICU. My mom, MIL, FIL, BIL & gf were all waiting for us. IL"s brought us much needed food. Dh barely at while he was with me because i wasnt able to eat. He was amazing throught the whole delivery, and afterwards. After 5 am I was finally brought upstairs to a room.
- Kyle's condition
1. we ended up finding out the lung fluid was pneumonia. He was already started on antibiotics because i had Group B. He'll be on antibiotics for 7 days. - We hopefully will be taking him home on Tuesday.
2. He ended up having a spinal tap to make sure it wasnt menengitis which would require extra 7 days antibiotics.
3. He had pneumothorax- an air pocket in the lung- which was treated with oxygen.
4. He has jaundice. His score has increased. they gave him the bili ruben lights and today his score started decreasing. They'll retest him in the morning.
-I was released on Friday. I have cried so much. They put me in a room with a very friendly nurse(who was clean with the bathroom) However she had the baby in her room and it made me sad cause i had to go to ICU to visit my baby. Friday before I was discharged I was given a lactation consult and felt like I was getting to bond with the baby, and happy. Saturday, we came in for some feedings and discovered his IV lock was moved to his head. Again I started crying. I'd do anything so he couldnt feel pain, it just killed me seeing him look so helpless. Saturday night we got good news that his respiration was improving(he was having trouble latching cause he had to pause to breath). Its been very exhausting running back and forth to catch some of the feedings. I pump durring the feeding while dh gives him the bottles. It works well cause I have been pumping almost double of what he eats. Image Attachment(s):
