Are You Watching Movies at Theaters More or Less Often? POLL

And why?

DH and I have definitely gone less. We're so outraged by how much more expensive it's becoming to watch a movie! Even in NJ, it's $11 per adult!

We don't mind the cost as much as the many ads that we're subjected to lately. During our last movie outing a month ago, we counted 8 or 9 ads before the trailers even begin. :P

Definitely less

Not b/c of $$, but b/c most movies come out so quickly on DVD that we don't mind waiting...we'd rather watch them at home

less! there are so many previews/ ads it's annoying. it's expensive, the movies come out on DVD so quickly and teenagers are annoying

Less and for several reasons.

1-$$$ Since when did going to the movies cost almost $50?

2-If I want to see commercials, I will watch tv. Trailors are fine!!! I love the coming attractions. But commercials??? Pathetic!

3-Netflix is the BEST thing for movies and we have a great size screen, surround sound, etc.

4-We have G/C for a few theatres, but honestly, we save them for the blockbuster type of movies.

less often... the money infuriates us. we just went today, to a matinee - and it cost us 25 bucks just for the movies and 2 medium sodas. we were just saying how it has to cost a family with kids like $100 bucks just to see a movie, after snacks. its insane.

We're the same. We don't go every week, but if there is a movie we know we want to see - we go see it in the Theater, or we might save it for when it's out on video. We just go to daytime showings of movies, or find a theater (such as Port Jeff Cinemas) that does discount tickets for us to enjoy a few hours alone.

Less often. Will only go if its something that is beneficial of surround sound and the extra large screen.

I can't stand being cooped up in the uncomfortable chairs, and most importantly all of the inconsiderate people.

The frequency that DH and I see movies is about the same. We actually see a lot of movies, especially over the last year or two with all the action movies and superhero movies that DH loves. It is expensive so we try not to buy things at the concession stand. And we eat at home before we go out so we don't have to pay for an expensive dinner out.

I just asked DH how many times he thought we'd gone to the movies; in the 4 1/2 years we've been together, we came up with 8 movies.

For us, it's not so much the price, but we HATE the way people act in movie theaters sometimes. We actually walked out of Ocean's 12 because people wouldn't stop talking, there were kids running around, babies crying, etc. At almost $12 a ticket, we shouldn't have to put up with it. I don't mind kids making noise at a kid's movie (Disney, Pixar, whatever), but Ocean's 12? Hire a babysitter or wait for the DVD.

There are a bunch of movies out this summer we want to see; we try to go to an early show during the week, like 6 o'clock on a Tuesday or something. It's the dinner hour, and not a "date night."

I cant deal with annoying people who are loud talk through the movies and are none stop with the cell phone.

we go less now because when living in OH there was an indie theater literally 2 blocks away that served beer/pizza/cocktails. Pretty awesome to watch a double feature for 6 bucks and get your drink on.

I cannot stand the talking, cell phones etc at theaters on Long Island as it totally ruins the experience for me so when we do go its at the tiny local theatre and well after the movie premiered.

DH loves movies so he goes a lot with his friends. I'm not a big fan and it's so expensive. As a couple, we definitely go less than we used to.

Not really much of a change. We never have been big 'theatre' people - so when we go it is because we really want to go and the cost isn't enough to deter us.

I guess less, but we were never really movie people. We love netflix and HATE people. We go to maybe one movie a year - this year was the Dark Knight.

I hate spending that much money to sit uncomfortably in a movie theatre to watch a movie.

I did go see Dark Knight this weekend because I feel like action movies like that are best seen in a theatre, but otherwise I'd rather rent it and veg on the couch.

I don't go to the movies at all. Every time I go I get nauseous. This has NOTHING to do with pregnancy. The combo of surround sound, quick editing and jarring camera movements actually has the same effect on me as riding on a plane or a boat - I get motion sickness. This should be a real treat when the plasma finally comes in. I won't be able to watch "The Soup" without puking.

We hardly ever go to the movies. Usually it's because we can't agree on a movie to see. Not to mention the fact that I tend to fall asleep when we go at night. I do much better in the matinees.
