We're having a huge party Saturday afternoon, praying nothing hits before that and then we will prep after but at least will have birthday cake!

I think it won't be here until Sunday if it comes this way. You should be ok for Saturday hopefully!

Are you preparing for Hurricane Matthew?
We just got back from being away, so I'll do my shopping tomorrow, stock up on some water, batteries, make sure I have gas, and a few snacks. I'll also be making my hotel reservation if it's looking like we will get hit as the week progresses. We have done that the past two hurricanes after we lost power since it's no fun sitting around in the dark for days.
Remember, better safe than sorry. I remember these questions popping up before Sandy, and the "it's not going to hit us", you all are silly for prepping attitudes. Gas was gone, power out for days, etc. etc., you all know the deal!

I am not personally but we are at work.
We have hundreds of homes at few military bases along the southern coast and after why happened with the crane during Sandy we go above and beyond now.

I may drag my furniture into the garage if things look bad, but that'll be determined on Saturday.

We live in Lindenhurst, South of Montauk so these storms scare the crap out of me. During Sandy my house took on over 4 feet of water and just caused so much damage around us. I am praying to God it doesn't hit and stays far away. As for prepping, we will just put the BBQ away, sand bag all the entrances, pack some go bags and pray that its not to bad. Thats all we can do..I don't make light of any of these storms and people rushing to get supplies. Sometimes its all you can do to not feel utterly helpless in the face of disaster.

Yes. Because we are in the cone.
I have 25 gallons of gas and my generator. As we get closer I will see if I need to prepRe "more". Water, snacks. I have tons of booze.
