Are my expectationns unreasonable?

Seriously, I'm asking, b/c I think I might just be crazy .....
And this is not about judgment AT ALL .....it's a very direct "am I wasting my money" question .......

I NEED a clean house. I cannot function in a mess. I completely shut down, get very anxious and irritable .......I just need it to be clean.

So, while my house is not immaculate, you can't eat off the floors or anything ........but, it's clean.

For those of you who hire someone to come in every 2 weeks, every week, once a month - whatever it may be .....
Is your house dirty when they come?

I ask b/c I had someone come for a 'deep clean' and they charged me $180 (I have a small 2 bath, 3 bedroom cape) They came into a clean house. I had done my normal, vacuum, dust, bathrooms, mop floors etc etc the prior weekend. I wanted someone to do windows, dust ceiling fans, moldings, get behind furniture, under cushions etc - the stuff that really takes time, that you don't regularly do.......I was pretty clear about my expectations. The woman even came into the beds having been made (I forgot they did that)

OK so .......she leaves, after 2.5 hours (with 2 other women) and wants to charge me $130 every two weeks.
I had to vacuum my son's bedroom area rug again b/c there was lint everywhere ......I had to dust my other son's dresser, I had to Swiffer under my bed (wood floor) and dust my dresser b/c it LOOKED like the dust from the ceiling fan landed, I had to dust the ceiling moldings in my bedroom ..I had to REmake the beds b/c she put the sheets on all ass backwards and the bedding was thrown back on as if my 5 year old made the bed .......Oh and I also had to wipe HUGE drip marks off of my glass shower doors ......I almost lost my mind !!!

Now, I GET that I am a little OCD...BUT, I don't think THOSE things are unreasonable to expect to be done on a regular basis, much less a supposed "Deep Clean" ........

I was also Chat Icon by her $130/every 2 weeks cost. You're obviously not coming into a house where you are going to have to bust your ass to get things clean. And, there is literally ZERO clutter anywhere.

So ..... do I pack it in and just deal w/ doing it myself? Am I expecting too much? This company came so highly recommended in the area, and I was SO hoping to take this off my plate every weekend!

Just like anything else; sometimes it takes a few times to get the right one.

I wouldn't give up just yet. I would try to get someone different next time. I DEFINITELY wouldn't have these girls come back. NO WAY!

No, I don't think you're being unreasonable.

Call Carlos from Maxiclean. My boss is unblievably picky and particular and Carlos blew him away. 631-813-54800.

Re: Are my expectationns unreasonable?

they probably charged you that much because they walked into a pretty clean home and think you have money to throw away

i would call and complain and if they dont offer some sort of solution ( refund, free cleaning) i would write a review.

I have never had a cleaning lady but you are not unreasonable. Im the same way as you and would a expect someone who does this for a living wouldnt be so careless.

I would try another company.
I would not be at all happy with what you described after what you paid.

I am sure there are better ones out there that will do the job you are looking for.

I would think after 2.5 hrs. and 3 people, your house would be immaculate. You shouldn't have had to do anything after them. I'd look for another company.

For a deep clean, the amount really didn't bother me too much but it should be spotless when they leave. If there was dust or not cleaned under the couches I would have called to tell them to come back and finish.

For the every two weeks. That is way too much money. I have a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house and pay less than that. Shop around and ask for references in your area. You'll definitely get a better price and hopefully someone that does a better job.

Re: Are my expectationns unreasonable?

This is why I currently dont have a cleaning lady. I have been through several and I come home and Im like "WTF did you actually do?" I want it CLEAN, not I wiped down your counters, but "shining like the top of the Chrysler building." I too have made it VERY clear the type of service I was looking for, and so far, every single one has come up VERY short. Im not paying someone so I can come home and finish the job. Im paying someone so I dont HAVE to do it.

First world problems,I know, but Im with you. As long as you clearly set your expectations up front and those were not et, move on until you can find someone who can do what is discussed and agreed upon.

Re: Are my expectationns unreasonable?

You are not unreasonable at all. For a deep cleaning and at that price, I would be very upset if I had to clean more after they are done. I'd complain and look somewhere else.

Nope not all. Sounds like they just stink. Try someone new. Also, I think that $130 is high. I pay $90 for two people and they do everything, except laundry.

I don't think you're asking for much. You paid for a service and your expectations are NOT unreasonable.

That being said, $130 bi/weekly for 2+ girls seems right on par. I know some people that pay closer to $100 for 1 girl.

I would mention your concerns and give them 1 more chance. If the same thing happens or you are not satisfied I would look for another company.

Re: Are my expectationns unreasonable?

I have someone come every other week for 100 a time. My house is 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 half baths and a finished basement. They clean all of it.

The first visit for the "deep clean" they charged me 120.

Some times i feel like they rushed a little but if i point it out to them the next time they make sure that area/spot is immaculately done. I am overall very happy with it for the price.

I would expect for 180 and then 130 that it be pristine.

In my experience if you're not happy with the deep cleaning you won't be happy with the regular cleaning. Find someone else.

Re: Are my expectationns unreasonable?

Our cleaning lady does not go behind or under furniture. She also does not do windows. We paid her $400 separately to clean just our windows (inside and out). We pay $150 per cleaning.

Kids tidy up toys but she changes all the bedsheets.

Re: Are my expectationns unreasonable?

you are not unreasonable and i think it's time to shop another company.

or you might consider a private person who is doing it independently. the lady who used to baby sit my son used to clean houses too... she would knock the socks off everyone who hired her

Are my expectationns unreasonable?

I have the same reservations about getting a cleaning lady-I would rather end up doing it myself if I'm constantly going to be on top of them.

On a side note, $400 just for windows?!?

Are my expectationns unreasonable?

I just hired a cleaning woman for the first time last week. My home was in decent condition, but needed a good mopping and scrubbing down. I couldn't believe how spotless my house looked! Literally I could eat off the floors, I've never seen it this clean!

So in your situation, I would look for someone else. The fact that she left marks all over the shower doors after they were supposed to cleaned is unacceptable IMO.

It took two people almost 5 hours to do our windows. She came at a separate time than our normal cleaning.

Re: Are my expectationns unreasonable?

I think it's hard for "OCD Clean" people (like myself) to ever be 100% happy with a cleaning persons job. My sister had one after her surgery and every week it was something else "she could have done better" .

I don't think you are being unreasonable. You paid for a service and should get what you want. I would call owner and see if they will refund any $. If not, just move on.
Ask a neat freak who they use... they may be able to get you a person who cleans like you would.
