Approaching a friend about watching baby - advice

I am considering going back to work part time 2-3 days a week and asking a friend to watch DS. What do you think is a fair $ amount to offer? Or do I approach her and ask her how much she would be looking for?

She recently left her job to be a SAHM because she couldn't bear being away from her kids and I know she is looking for extra money.

I have a babysitter for my DS who watches him in her house and charges $10/hr and anything 6+hours is $45/day

i would first ask my friend if she was willing to watch DS and wait for her to say yes before discussing $$.

because your DS is not a newborn i think between $40 and $60 a day is reasonable, depending on how many hours she would be watching him - but let her make the call. ask her what she thinks is a fair price and if she says she doesn't know offer her $50 a day and tell her if she doesn't think that is enough you'd be willing to discuss it further.

I pay my babysitter $8 an hour(for twins) which I know is an insane deal. She named the price
