Anyone scared to have baby#2?

We have a 20mth old and are thinking about ttc #2 early next year but the thought of it kind of scares me. DD is still in bed with us and still BF but is getting more independent and manageable....I feel like we will be just getting a hadlle on her and #2 will arrive.

Do you ever think you should hold off for awhile so you can get a bit or your "life" back before having #2?

Is there really a huge diffrence with siblings not being so close in age?

If we do go for it next year then there will be a 2 year 8mths age gap ...if we wait a little then there will be a gap of maybe 3 1/2...is that too much?

Just rambling I guess....

Any thoughts?

Same here. oh so tired. Can't imagine doubling back to infant stage and juggling 2. DS is only 1 and we're just getting our life back somewhat. We are off the bottle, almost. If we do it will be 2-3 yrs and I'll need to get DH wasted to even consider. haha.

13 months later and I am still exhausted, when they say it gets better, it does in terms of the baby's neediness, but I am still just as tired as I ever was.

Re: Anyone scared to have baby#2?

I am ready, but different factors hold me back.

Josh is BF and allergic to milk and soy. I don't want to get preggo, lose my supply, then have him on formulas or rice milk. Once I know if this allergy is gone, I will feel better about getting preggo.

My financial situation isn't the best right now. We still have our house money in savings, but we are still awaiting Leo's next promotion. I went on too many trips this past year, spent too much money. I want to save a little more before we go for #2.
Also wanted to add:
pregnancy too a toll on me. I had m/s forever, horrible heartburn...then went right into EBFing. Part of me wants a baby free body for awhile.

I, personally, just can't imagine #2 right now. Like I really can't figure out how I would make it work.

ditto. I was just talking to my dh about this yesterday. I know won't be able to handle an infant and a toddler at the same time so I will delay #2 for about another 2 - 3 years. My sister and I are 4 1/2 years apart and it worked out great. My dh and his sister are 6 years apart and they loved the age difference.

VERY!
I don't get home from work until between 7-8 every night. My poor DH will be alone for hours with a 3 yr old (by then) and a newborn. I really am thinking that we will just have 1 child because it is not fair for anyone with the job I have now!

Re: Anyone scared to have baby#2?

I was going to post something similar today.

It's scary...I want a second baby very badly. But Johnny although a great kid, is so so active...the thought of morning sickness, AND a 13/14 month old...scary!

We are in an apartment. Awaiting news of a possible interview in NJ so we can move out of VA and closer to home! So many "what ifs" exist which is making it hard to know.

Then i think.....tons of people have more than one child and manage. I do believe everything has a way of working out, but is it best to conceive NOW or 6 months from now, or a year??? Who knows?! Lots to consider!

**also..I would love for johnny to have a sibling. I think he would love it!

Re: Anyone scared to have baby#2?

I wish I could wait another year but at 37 I don't have that luxury. I would love to just enjoy this time with DD especially since everything is so easy right now. I don't know what #2 is going to do to us.Chat Icon With DH away for work a lot, it all falls on me- going to work, taking DD to day care, caring for her when I get home- not to mention running a household.

Rambling here too- but if I was younger, I would wait until she was about 2 to start trying again.

Re: Anyone scared to have baby#2?

I'm scared mostly because Stevie was such an easy baby, I'm nervous to have a terror the second time around.

Also, I am completely happy with how my family is right now. I can't even begin to imagine changing it. Plus, I'd most likely have to move and I don't want to move far away from my family.

Not scared, also just tired... and seeing as how my DS is not an easy child, it just seems almost impossible. For me anyway.

I know that I do not want just ONE though.. so we are waiting until DS is either 3 or 4 to start TTC again. The thought of having an infant and then having another in kindergarten seems much more manageable for me..Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Anyone scared to have baby#2?

I wouldn't worry about the age gap... mine is 10 years!!! So in my opion the gap is never too much... what ever you decide for your family is perfect.. Dont stress it so much everything works out in the end. GOOD LUCK!

Re: Anyone scared to have baby#2?

DS is 19 months and I'm 10 weeks pregnant with #2. I'm petrified. I was actually just talking to DH about this last night because I've been having horrilbe non-stop "morning" sickness for a few weeks now and I'm not able to do anything. I just keep worrying that if I can't even make it through the pregnancy, how am I going to do it once #2 arrives. I also work PT in the city which doesn't help. Chat Icon

I'm scared for the same reason! (except with my baby of course!)

But that's not the reason why we aren't TTC #2 right now.

I'm in the EXACT situation (except I'm 35.) I often feel like a "single" working mom because DH works so far. BUT he's thinking about looking for a closer job, so maybe that will helpChat Icon

Same here. I'm 36 and we're still considering having 3 so I feel like I need to start soon. But my DH is away alot too. It scares me to think how I'll manage 2 (or 3) on my own. I do also want them close in age. But it's hard to imagine dividing up my time. I'm not working, but am still having trouble managing it all on my own. Chat Icon Plus we're waiting to hear about a possible move with DH's job.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
I have some days where Im like, Ok, let's try and have them 18-20 months apart, then, somedays, Im like..Hmmmm maybe we should do 2 or 3 years apart.
I honeslty don't think I will wait 3 years. Im hoping we will TTC early next year.
We shall see.Chat Icon
