Anyone request a priviate room and North Shore LIJ?

Is that something you can do? If so, how do I arrange for one?

Also, how much is that---does anyone know?

when I gave birth in May 09 it was packed. All the rooms were booked. When we did a tour they showed us the private rooms. Nothing great and you have to share the bathrooms. I want to say they were about $450 - $500. Totally wasn't worth it to stay in for just a few nights. I had a c-section and one roommate. It was fine. Couldn't wait to get home anyway.

I remember they were building the new maternity ward. I guess it's not ready yet.

I think they're renovating it and if I'm not mistaken many of the rooms may be private if not all!!!!

they are renovating but i think it wont be done til at least the summer
i think they might be making all private rooms...think not sure

You need to send your DH down to pay for it AFTER the birth. They are given out on a first come, first served basis. In September 2005, it cost me $250/night; in May 2007 it cost me $550/night; in October 2010, DH had them promptly wheel me over to a room with the other riff-raff.
